I got my FSM and it's hardcover?!?!?!

Orderer this 89 wagon factory service manual off a guy on amazon last week. The description said it was in "good condition" but nothing more. Showed up yesterday and here's what I got...

This thing is mint...not even a grease spot on it. Looks like it should be in a library, oh wait thats where it came from, withdrawn from the Columbus Ohio library. I feel bad taking it out in the garage and getting my greasy hands all over it...

I paid 38.99 shipped from luke6146 on amazon... I figured it being labeled as "good" on amazon I was going to get a heavily used book that was all there but not in great shape. It was listed as paperback as well. He has another one listed in "like new" condition for twice the price. Maybe he sent me the wrong one. Either way it's pretty sweet....

my brother is a tech @ a honda dealership, about 7 years ago or so, all the shops switched from using the manuals to having PC terminals in the bays. My brother walked out of there with about 30 manuals, some in their original plastic wrapping, like the 1990 Wagon manual he gave me. Now it's covered in grease and the important pages are all dog eared.

but i've never ever seen a hardcover shop manual from honda, very nice score. almost hate to use it!

The library had it bound like that. My college used to do that to all of their paperbacks, and probably still does. They looked just like that Civic manual after they were done. The city library around me doesn't bind their service manuals, though. I checked out a Hyundai manual to fix something on my sister's car, and it was just the regular old paperback.

Yup you are correct sir. It was definitely bound by the library to put in their reference section not a true hardcover from helms.

I guess they dont make em like they used to. It looks like they did a decent job at the library though. Sweet find for sure.
