Coilover How-to?

Ive done a little searching on here and some searching the web too and havent completely grasped how to do this.
It may be more self explanatory after I actually start doing it but at the moment im confused and have a few questions.

I bought the cheap $40 ebay coilover springs everyone says not to get lol... yes i like learning the hard way.

the kit comes with a bag or rubber rings of different thickness. im not exactly sure where those go...?

then another bag of 4 metal rings. where do these go?

how do these lock at the height you want? you just tighten the 2 nuts against eachother?

I plan to get new struts later but im wanting to close the wheel well gap now... about 1"-1 1/2" drop should be fine?

when u take your stut apart those rubber rings slide over the struts body and keep the threaded aluminum coil in place and yes you just tighten them together to hold them. theres a few tricks I use like while the struts are still in the car loosten the nut that holds the struts together on top and u wont need a spring compressor. in the front un-bolt the wish bone from the strut and this will make getting the front strut out way easier.
