yeah i tried everywhere in boise; michells, craft warehouse, hobby shop, ralphs, ace, homedepot, walmart, k mart, fred myers, etc... everywhere...
no body had it- thats why if you see it, pick up a couple of cans,
you'll never know how much you'll need... :D

Looks good. You should do the bumper lights while you at it.

doing the bumper lights orange and flat blacking the front and
    rear bumpers- hopefully tommorrow...

if i get crazy ambitious i will sand down the tailights and re-do them
red.... (as they are smoked currently)
  • wow i did'nt like those amber/orange corners but after looking at yours i think i have to do the same to mine tomorrow. thanks for the show and tell.
  • BillBoardBillBoard council member
let us know how it goes... :D

    i was very satisfied...
  • I looked for that paint for months, and never found it in orange. I did find some cans with orange caps, only problem was that the paint inside was yellow. wtf??!?

I ended up getting a case of orange on ebay. I still have 5 cans left. If anybody really needs a can and can't find one locally, I suppose I could help a wagon brotha' out...
  • I got dibs on a can if I don't like the way the black turns out!

So now you got 4 left. :)

    (Pm me with prices please)
  • i said i would paint mine too. but when i went to go buy them at micheal's came home w/ the paint tested it and it came out yellow. i tried every store you can possibley think of nothing so plans are on hold. till i find some anywhere online intown.

i did this trick on my Accord corners. a quick search found this link.
    http://www.g2ic.com/forums/showthread.p ... 114&page=3

i haven't used the Tamiya mentioned in that thread. i used orange Krylon Stained Glass paint (not the "Paper Finish" kind).

it's hard to find, but it's out there. try hobby stores, craft stores, and artist supply stores. i know Pearl Paint has it, and i've seen some colors at Hobby Lobby and Michaels.

i added a protective layer of UV-resistant clear. and i haven't had any fading or anything in over a year now.
  • im curious whats the point in putting them in the oven? i did this to my del sol lenses and i didnt have to put them in my oven.
  • BillBoardBillBoard council member
the oven- dry them extremely fast-

i did it to the corners on my crx and it took all day to dry...

    oven 10 min...

  • jeffsciv23jeffsciv23 New Wagonist
what were you bakign them for?
  • BillBoardBillBoard council member
there really is no need to bake them; i baked mine cause i was
sick of waiting for them to dry----

it was spring time and hella cold- and it was taking for ever for
    them to dry...

i also didnt lay them directly on a cookie sheet, jus grabbed a
muffin pan and threw them in the oven for a bit...
i watched them the whole time...

that sucks man... i also may be higher up in elevation than you,
suppose elevation has somehting to do with cooking time or somehting

anyways sorry to hear abou the results...
    that sucks balls

omfg, I laughed so hard at this... really sorry for your misfortune, but it is pretty funny. At least you are back in action. Have fun at the meet and take pics!

BTW, when I did my hatch, they where dry enough to install within a couple hours.
  • I didn't find Krylon but there is other stuff out there called Excel Glass Coating.

    52.jpg

I tested it on a spare 88-89 wagon corner light I had lying around and it looks good.

    53.jpg

You will notice that the right hand side of the corner light still has the original amber color while the middle and left of the corner light show the Glass Coating color.

I will be doing both new corner lights I received from herbie16 and the turning signals on my wagon in the next few days, followed by pics of course.

Do you use clear bulbs? Or amber/orange bulbs?
  • I could not find a site to where I can buy this?????

    Very interested in this one..

As luck would have it I haven't done a single thing with my car all summer.

I bought an old rooming house and my brothers and I have been busy gutting and renovating it back to a single family home I am going to sell next May.

All my time & money has been going into that.
