clutch cable sticking 4wd 91

on my 91 4wd stick, the clutch cable is sticking again. its the second one since i bought it about a year ago. it looks like the little boot kidna slide off on the top and i just put it back up but the grease probably got dried up so it still sticking now. any solution besides me buying my third cable wire?
