B18c dual valve spring in b18a

I heard through a source that you can use the inner dual spring from vtec head in a non-vtec head to bump rpm range and as a cheap alt. to buying springs if running a cam. Any info or experience here?

    I messed around with this idea about a year ago, the vtec springs a litle short. But the older B20a/B21 inner springs and outer have the right dimensions.
