Need help removing power steering belt

well the other night my battery light came one and it seems that my alternator's belt snapped.

what all do i need to remove to replace this belt? it looks like i need to get the power steering belt out of the way, but i can't figure out how that darn thing is bolted in there. anyone have any tips or pointers here? i'm about to say screw it and cut that damn belt out of there

  • loosen the PS pump itself and the belt will come right off. its held in by 2 bolts.
  • Should be two 12mm bolts. Also the A/c belt, if you're running it.... I'd go ahead and replace all two or three belts while you have them off.

There are two bolt on the left side of the pump (closest to the headers, so make sure those aren't hot) once those are loosened off you can use a 10mm socket to wind the bolt on top "down" to release the tension on the belt.

Might as well replace all belts while you are at it
  • thanks guys, i finally found the second bolt for the pump (it was covered in grease, you really couldnt even see a bolt there)

but i'll probably replace the PS belt here shortly as well as actually put a belt on for a/c, because for some reason there isnt a belt on for it
