Engine/Trans mounts

My 1989 RT4WD doesn't have a front mount from the transmission to the front crossmember. I saw a 2-WD wagon in the wrecking yard with a front mount. Is this missing on mine, or do the Auto cars or 2WD cars have this mount as an extra? The rear mount is so difficult to replace, I can't find anyone who will do it. Does this front mount belong? If so, I'll buy a new one, since I can replace this by myself.

Thanks, Jesse

i've been wondering how necessary the front mount is also, hopefully someone chimes in.
  • 99% of swapped honda cars run without the front mount.
    You'll be ok without it.

If u dont have stiffer mounts or atleast a poly insert in your rear mount i would try to run all 4 of them. infact i have a spare front mount with the bolt and nut that ill sell ya cheap if u realy want it there. I just remember years back my buddy had a DA and his front mount was missing and he was rockin no hood for a while and his motor sloshed back and forth so bad it was amazing.....

this is completly true, but most all of those cars use stiffer mounts.

Thanks for the advice. Last night I dropped by the place that put in my engine and asked about the mount. They had it (in perfect shape, by the way) in the front of the garage, but when I asked why they hadn't put it on, they said "doesn't fit this transmission" I said "same transmission!" They said "Oh, yeaaahhh, uhhh"

Conclusion: Flopping motor because of lazy mechanics (Me and Them both) They didn't replace the torn-out rear mount while the engine was out because they thought I wouldn't spend the $40 for a new mount. Aarrggg! Now I gotta get in there with the engine in place, which is a major pain in the ass.

Conclusion #2: Don't use these guys any more! Cheap, but drifty.

Who makes good urethane inserts for these motormounts? I've never actually seen any

Got the mount insert kit in the mail over the weekend. Looks great, now I'll have to find the time and gumption to install them.
