McAllen, Texas - Hey, I've been in your neck of the woods a couple of times. My Grandpa use to own rent a spot at the Tropic Starr in Pharr.
I was down there for the first time in 1979 and the last time in 1989.
I remember going go-cart racing on South Padre Island before it got all developed into what it is today. In 1979 the Tropic Starr still had an orange grove (before the golf course went in) and we could pick oranges right off the trees and make fresh OJ in the morning.
