New to the wagons and it is a love hate.

Hi, my name is sean I live in frederick MD. I am more know for my miata than my civic. It is a 92 miata with a 2jz swap that is almost done. If you do not believe me google it you will find it. I have a love for honda's as well. I had a 91 hatchback that I loved but someone decided to pull out in front of me one the highway and kill it. I saw a wagon when looking for a new car and feel in love. I have purchased a 1990 civic wagon that had a b16 previously but I pulled out my motor and trans from the hatch since my wagon came with no motor no trans. I swapped in a d16y8 that I have modified to be stroked high compression using a pr3 ecu and d16a6 dizzy. This setup ran great in my hatch so I think it will be great in my wagon. I have found a lot of good information on this site and I will be starting a new thread on some problems I am having but that is on another note.

here is a few pics of my wagon when I got it witch was just a few days ago and my miata it is not done yet.

Sweet Wagon. Love how the pinstripe loops up to the top of the bubble window!

What kind of exhaust are you running there?
  • 2jzmiata2jzmiata Band Wagon
The exhaust is a custom made 2.25" straight exhaust with a cherry bomb standard style muffler. Should give excellent flow without a whole lot of noise. I need to drive this thing 100 miles a day at a minimum. lol

Ok just in case anyone wanted to know. I feel really dumb telling you this but sometime we do dumb things. I worked on this car last weekend and its running great and everything works. I failed to hook up the ground wire that goes from the valve cover to the chassis. My hatchback had a ground from the trans to the chassis and from the valve cover to the chassis. Being that my wagon only had the one (It now has 2) the vehicle was not getting proper ground. So lesson learned no matter how much you know always look at the small things first!

I would also like to add that driving a wagon is amazing now on to see what other front bumper I can get for it.

Oh wow, that miata is going to be sick!
So let me get this straight. When you bought the wagon it had a b16, your old hatch had a d16y8 and you swapped out the b16 for the y8? I'm confused, your post says

So it did or didn't have a motor when you bought it?
Just asking. Either way, keep us updated on your progress with the wagon and miata. :)

My wagon came with no motor in it. The guy that sold me the car took the B16 out of it before selling it so I put my Y8 motor into it.

Ok so I have not been on here in a while because I have been working like crazy but I wanted to give you all a little update on my wagon. I have done lots of mods since I have had it most of them for the better.

Wagon the way it currently sits -

    B18b with cable ls trans
custom stainless mandrel bent 2.5" exhaust
    Full bodied coilovers
    DA integra front sway bar
Suspension techniques rear sway for ( for CRX but made it work)
    Adjustable rear upper control arms
    adjustable rear toe links
    Kosie K'1 wheels 16x8
    MK3 golf front lip.
    OBD1 swap
    Hasport mounts and linkage
    CAI

Currently setting up my new turbo kit

    gt30R precision turbo
    trubosmart 35mm gate
    synapse bov
    DSM 450cc injectors
    Front mount intercooler
    tuned on crome to 10psi

Here is the fun part that I think most wagon guys will love. I have only meet a few people with wagons since I have owned mine. Most of them are bone stock. The body on my wagon only has a little rust but it needs fenders and a hood and some dings fixed but because I drive it everyday I enjoy it that way. The fun part of this thread and I will keep this updated as I go it I am building a beast of a motor for my wagon. I want to have a 350-400hp wagon to drive everyday. You may think I am crazy but I am gonna try and we can only wait and see what happens.

Here are the plans current and future -

I am building a forged internal big cam LS Vtec to put in my wagon and boost it should make awesome power and be reliable.

    B16 head -
Super tech nitride coated STD size valves
    Crane valve springs
    Crane stage 3 cams
( I have not got keepers and locks yet is on the list)
    New valve seals
    GSR 70mm throttle body
    Skunk2 intake manifold

    Block -

B18a block stock bore fresh hone

    Wiseco +5cc LS forged pistons
    Eagle LS rods
    OEM honda bearings
    OEM honda Vtec oil pump
    Vtec water pump
all new gaskets seals belts ect..
    All rotating assembly ballanced

I want to take this built motor should be around 11.5:1 compression and put my 30r turbo setup on it and try and hit 400hp I dont think this will be a problem. I have lots of quality parts I have been collecting for a long time now but this project will be coming together soon so I will keep you all informed.
