Exhaust opinions

Not sure if this is the correct place or not...

I am currently running a custom 2" exhaust on my wagon with a 2" OE style cat, 2"cherry bomb (used as resonator) with an ebay 2.5" inlet canister style muffler.

My question to anybody who can answer is this, I want to make the wagon a bit quitter,
would going to just a 2" inlet muffler help this out at all?

Any ideas on which mufflers might be quitter than others?

I'm not looking to redoing the entire exhaust, just the muffler.

Thanks in advance for all your guys' help!!

look into the burns stainless steel muffler. its kinda higher priced but they quiet things down without restricting any exhaust flow.

Honestly I bought an exhaust for a 4dr civic from ebay and made an extended test pipe in place of the Cat to compensate for the length difference(6~7"s). I couldn't be happier with it, fairly quiet, doesn't hit anything on the way back. Just a heads up since the while exhaust ran me $120 + shipping....i've seen mufflers that cost almost that much a local exhaust shops.
  • are you droning inside the cabin or is the neighborhood complaining?

Was this on an RT or 2WD?

Mainly just trying to be courteous around the neighborhoods and a little bit of the inside the cabin.
  • you probably need a free flow chambered muffler.

ive had dyno max super turbo and friends had dyno max ultra flo theyre nice and quiet and affordable. chamber mufflers stay quiet longer compared to glass pack filled.

look into dynomax vt and i'm doing some searches on hooker aero chamber mufflers-reviews seem good.
also, ive never seen a honda with hooker. lol.
    wanting something different.

2WD - I know the RT4WD needs to be routed under the middle of the x'member due to the axles...just noticed OP had an RT, my bad.
  • Thanks for the options. I'm looking into the Dynomax mufflers, decent price, good quality and from what I've read, they aren't too loud.. We shall see.
