Just looked the current rules, I think my current RT will break to many of them... I am gonna try to go get my Old AWD Wagon back.. to use just for this!!! Looks like fun!! Hell, might just use my 2wd wagon..
^^^ i was pretty suprised at what a fwd car could do at the local rallyxs. dude was a good driver, but still...and it was a blast. dude only lifted to get the car sideways, then he would be back to full throttle.....i still like awd better though, lol.
so had a interesting weekend with the ole rallywagon. started off by finally getting these: agx's for a 92 civic with 92 coupe springs.
amazed at the difference with these struts. no more bouncy, just a single bounce then level. on setting 4 anyway. setting one is pretty much like stock.
then...
a friend and I were out testing...ripping through a puddle and my spalshguard stopped guarding the intake and starting funneling into the intake. the car died. coasted to a stop, and DIDNT try to start it. pulled off intake and there was water. pulled out spark plugs and there was water. turned it over and had 4 neat little fountians of water. was just like yellowstone.
got a tow home from a friend and used the oil pump i use to put in tranny fluid to pull water from on top of pistons. once i got all that out, I realized my intake manifold had a spot for water to puddle. I pulled off the throttle body and stuck that pump down in there and sure as shit, got a bunch of water. as I was stading there wondering how I was gonna get it out, and another forum member and wagon owner (Tom) stops by. he said he had an air compressor, so he towed me to his house and he came up with a fucking brilliant way to extract water without removing manifold. got out water, he towed me home, I reassembled, started right up first try. hopefully there isnt any severe damage, but she seems to be running great..again.
some reminders...
the puddle that thwarted our testing.
strapin up.
in route.
so as a test we decided to do a bike ride and use the wagon as our shuttle.
got us up the 15 or so miles to our local ski resort with 4 bikes and four adults with gear no problem. with the struts on setting 4 the wagon still handled like a champ with all the weight.
after the ride, on the way out from the trailhead, the wife filmed a little of the road out. its bumpy, its her phone camera, the lighting is terrible, but it was a fun road out...even with our loud ass hatch rattle, lol.
Sorry, left that part out on local forum too. caught hell...
we took a 2-3' long peice of fuel line and shoved it into the runner. then cut a small hole in line 3-4" in from open end. pushed in a air nozzle and pointed it twords the opening and hit the trigger. acted exactly like a vacuume. took us longer to think it up than it did to remove water.
and ya, didnt do an update on interior cleaning cause while it looked and smelled good, the seats didnt get much cleaner.
funny you mention a skidplate too. was underneith it yesterday planning/scheming one. Been seeing a lot of skidplates like this latley.
yup! i had a buddy in high school who used to buy random signs from police auctions and such. idk why, he just had them piled in his room with receipts attached to the back lol.
ya, I really like the idea, something somewhat unique, at least for now. was thinking a yeild sign would cover the lower intake area (and kinda go with the theme of crazy people behind the wheel) better than the others, but I also might just plug that hole too so i dont have to worry about it anymore. some of our rallyxs get pretty sloppy.
a skid plate would keep a lot of crap from entering the engine bay too. splash guards cant quite seem to hold up to the abuse rallyx dishs out to them...neither do lower front lips. cant seem to keep one on this car either, lol.
^^^lol, ya, i dont think Honda had mud in mind when designing these little lip kits.
got the 90 Si seat reupholestering done and installed. put a passenger side skin and foam on driver upright as it was totally haggared in every way. seatpan needed welded up too. when i had it done, we did some reinforcing to help keep it together with the extra stress of bouncing through the desert during the rallyxs.
no real new updates, but the car is working better than I could have ever hoped for. the car has been the fastest street legal vehicle at the last 2 rallyxs and i was withing 5 seconds of the 2 fastest utvs at the last rallyx. i know 5 seconds seems like a big gap, but considering im in a 20+ year old car with 262k miles on the ticker and only being 5 seconds behind a local badass driver in a brand new Polaris Razor...it puts a smile on mah face
I do have a handfull of pix and vids from an excursion though
obligatory 4x4 style pic.
a few vids.
going up? never thought we would make it up this.
aaaand going down.
was really glad we made it up this too, was the only way out.
lol, ya, she did say that. we went down that little obsticle and ended finding some campers at the bottom. they looked at us like we were crazy. one guy said he was really suprised we got "that car" down there. I said its easy to get down into shit, its the drive out that was questionable. he laughed and said he had a jeep he could pull us out with if we had any issues. luckily we didnt need his services.
but ya, the two wheels not touching the ground during the transitions were spinning. ANY kind of limited slip would have been welcome. once I go to a mod class ill be doing the obx rear diff and a phantom grip in front.
That was a lot of fun to watch! Really makes me want a RT!! Amazing how these little cars can go in such different directions, I love it. Hey, random question but do you happen to know a guy who lives out here in the Seattle area, and works at a place in Lynnwood called Northwest Auto Salon? I can't remember his name, but he's in his 40's I'd say and he owns both an NSX and a 4wd Tercel Wagon.

Thanks man, i dunno why the footage is so blotchy, but it gets the point across. and ya, the RT's are a blast. especially one you got specifically for thrashin on. We have a blast in this car. words cant describe.
i do know quite a few people around that area, but not sure if any of them own a nsx these days. ive kinda lost touch with a lot of friends that way since I dont hang out on g2ic anymore. I would have to have a name man.
Hope you don't mind... been using it a few months now... My bank lets us put whatever pic we want on our debit card.. This is what I used.. This was is a copy sample of how it was gonna look... Mine looks better the card get so many questions and compliments... I love it!!! Its also my wallpaper... EPIC PICs are hard to find.
Congrats on pic of the month at Honda-tech.what size is your harness bar? I think they make like 47",49",50" just want to know which size works in the wagon
shoot, sorry guys, had no idea this thread was bumped. this site seems slow sometimes, but this particular section moves pretty fast, lol
...and pic of the month? I had no idea! too cool. how is it picked? i never got any notices or anything about it.
no idea on harnessbar. I bought it from another member and he said it was from the same year hatch. how do you measure and Ill find out for ya.
drmorty, im superjealous of that card. do me a favor please. when it expires can i have it? or is there a way you can order one without personal info?? id love to have one.
my car isnt at home atm or id measure, but it mounts with the 2 bolts that secure the upper shouler belts on each side. basically you measure to the back of where the bolt seats on each side and you have your measurement. knoimsayin?

And what about the interior cleaning update?

then just a little cruize through the sticks.
I couldn't tell with the sound down, were you spinning at the top of the last hill? Sounded like she said "scared me" lol.
I worry about spots like that with my two open diffs.
