The rallyx wagon.

hey fellow wagoneers. long time no see (I know, I suck). thought Id stop by and show off the new playtoy. I picked this up last June specifically for rallyx. 2010 was our first rallyx season and I must say its more fun then I could have ever imagined. Seriously, I havent laughed that hard in a car since I first got my license (were talking the 80's here). the car is a total blast and way more competitive than I could have hoped for. I even had my wife 4 wheel drifting her first time out. Would have never thought it would be so predictable and easy to manipulate. Even let a friend (evo and supra owner) codrive the car, and he was amazed at how well the car did what he wanted. Its exceeded every expectation of everyone thats driven it. I always loved having the underdog cars, ha!
Im racing the car this year (and last season, but it wasnt pointed) in SA, which is stock awd for our first pointed season. You can do the usual mods allowed in autox and stay in stock class. The small modlist includes:
DB1 front swaybar.
2.25 catback exhaust.
14" toyo observe studless snow tires.
I can replace the filter with a replacement K&N or something similar, but as dirty as it gets, a paper filter is easy to pull out and knock the dirt off of, lol. I can also replace the struts, but not the springs. Still undecided on what Im actually going to use. Called Koni and they said they could modify a regular hatch/sedan strut with the perch mounts in the location that would match up with the rt struts and keep me legal for 10 bucks a cut. So basically an additional 40 bucks a set.
Ive added a Pioneer pop out dvd/mp3 player with some Alpine indoor speakers as this is now my winter beater as well. Gotta have something for those roadtrips to the resorts. Also installed a Momo steeringwheel with quick release, but not for racing, lol. Was only added so I can remove it to boot up in the warmth of the car in the resort parkinglots. Total poser move huh?
Anyway, pix of rallywagon:

Glad to see you back though. You can help with the B-CRV swap questions lol
What happened to the other red one?
Glad to see you back and having fun in a wagon.
I know, I know, but job security hasnt been my friend the last few years. Still isnt really, but keeping fingers crossed. Thanks for the warm welcome backs though
Red one is awaiting tranny parts and assembly begins. Motor is built and an abundance of gofast parts await. Jonesin sofa king hard to have that car up and running again.
Wheres this b-crv swap thread? Ill help however I can.
And yes, rallyx is so damn fun. Cant believe it took this long to get it going here. The local SCCA has commited to 5 years to make the program pay for itself. Last year we relied on contributions from local companies like Bullydog to keep us going as participation was real low.
There are risks of course. the same day those pix were taken, in the middle of a nice 4 wheel drift, two of my tires poped bead. Which of course led to two rims digging into the dirt. Which led to me parking the car on its doors. Was a really slow rollover, so very little damage was done. Broke off a passenger side mirror (that was installed maybe 2 weeks prior, lol) and dented the windshield upright, but other than that, it damage was minimal. A previous owner had slid into a snowbank or something as teh passenger side was pretty haggard to begin with. So if it did do damage, it was hard to tell.
Ive got some videos somewhere from the same day, but like a dumbass, I wasnt recording when the rollover occured. Nor was the photographer anywhere near the accident. Still really pissed about that Ill dig them out shortly as I need to prepare the camera (can see it on top of the car in the pix) for our first event on April 2nd. If anyone is close and wants to go for a ridealong, your more than welcome to tag along.
love the vc
Matt, no its still good enough, just wanted some dirtplay for a change. Ive been waiting for our club to get into this for years. I tried 3-4 years ago just to do a dirt autox and everyone was skurred. We were one of the top growing regions last year so they decided to see if there was enough intrest. As of yet there isnt, but hopefully in the next few seasons, people will realize what they have been missing out on.
And too good for hcw? nevar! Just havent really had anything to show off just yet. the person who took those pix just sent them to me so i figured it was time to share. its not much now, but when this 251k motor gives, Ill just into the mod class and then mods are pretty much unlimited and thats when the fun really begins.
And as always, thanks for the props eryone! theres so many badass wagons on here anymore, its nice to feel the love from such a small crowd

Are you 45 yet? 44 even?
Damn, Pops, I forgot about you! Just turned 44 Sunday :P I do wish there were more mature enthusiasts hereabout.
And snow action? Talkin bout the snowboard vids?
Happy belated Bam! I'll be 45 in Aug, and it's for sure I don't act my age (according to my wife) !
And thanks so much for taking the time to dig for those parts. They arent for this wagon, thier for a vitara build Im doing in Billboards original wagon. Motor is complete, just need the tranny squared away before it gets dropped in the car.

i have 2 real short YOUTUBE's posted on my build thread of snow fun...
This is why we need Snow in FL
So I didnt have our teal hatch ready for our first autox this past weekend, so we ended up running the rallywagon. I figured since I have parts laying around, Id go ahead and lower it and throw a few easy pieces on for the 2 day event.
Stolen from the white hatch, a Skunk2 strut bar.
Then I figured I could bring down the ride height real quick with these.
Assumed it would be a quick install as all the ones I have had prior were aquired assembled. But clocking combined with assembly with hands coated with elephant snot ended up taking a couple of hours. Those 2 hours also included new ES strut rod bushings and a set of ES front sway endlinks. Didnt take pix of those as they arent really all that neat, lol. Also installed another set of wheels I have with some 14" 615 Azenis tires.

I know, not much of a difference, but I figured every little bit would help. Dropped exactly an inch front and back.
A few pix from the weekend.
Can you say rollover mobile? I let a friend who normally drives an 06 MR drive it just so he could get some points inclass and he said he was scared he was gonna roll it, lol. No faith. He ended up dead last in BSP. Not a shocker though if you know the cars that are competitive in that class.
I ended up 1st on Saturday out of 5 racers in out ST bump class. Wasnt the fastest, but for the first time in 14 years, PAX worked in my advantage and put me ahead of a STX prepped mini that bested me by a 10th of a second.
Sunday I ended up 3rd losing to a STX Mustang and a STU MR2. Pax didnt help me at all that day. Wife placed 5th in the wagon the same day out of 7 total drivers. Was a fun weekend overall.
last night I took the ST stuff and the strutbar off the car so its legal for teh rallyx this weekend. Will try and get some footage and pix as well.
A few snaps from my buddy looking for randoms for his photography class.
