RT4WD rear shocks

I have just finished changing the rear shocks on my '89 RT4WD, saw that the lower end of the new shocks had a ring eye instead of the fork on my old shocks, but had to use what I got to get home (friends shop 50 miles from home) Now I see all the photos of rear suspension shows a fork on the lower attachment point. What is the ring attachment shock from? All dimensions are right, but the ring forces the shock to be mounted to the rear of the LCA, not straddling it. This causes the ride to be rough and noisy, with occasional clanking from the rear bolts moving around. I've got to replace the springs soon, as I can't stand the ass-high topped out ride, and may have to just put on HB struts. Do they have the fork, also? Sorry to be such a dork, but I didn't see this subject addressed anywhere else, just the spring question.

Thanks, Jesse

Wow, um.... sounds like you got shocks from an 88.

Can you take a picture of how it's mounted?

    Thanks, Charb

I got the shocks from eBay, naturally, so it wouldn't surprise me to find this to be the case. I ordered new hatch struts, and got some for an '86 and had to return them, but was trapped by the rear shocks. (didn't check before disassembling the old ones) I'll send pictures when my children teach me how to add pictures to these posts. I can weld a fender or port a head, but hate computers. (born in 1945, but still love Hondas, my first was a '74 EB-2 hatch)

you have one other option which would be locating lower control arms from a 1988 civic or crx. they bolt right in.

the last outside option would be getting integra type-r LCA's. but i do not know for sure if they are the same length as civic/crx lca's. now ever they WILL install and allow you to drive.

That's what happened. I got shocks for an '88 by mistake. Don't know if it was my mistake or theirs, I'll just deal with it. Thanks for the advice, danz and Charb.
