Swap all the good shit over to your original one with the sentimental value and revert this one back to stock and on sell.....
Or do all the above and keep them both, one as a slammed toy and the other as a parts hack/daily/thrash hack
^ The Mugen wheel was just on loan, did not come with the car when I purchased it, it belongs to a guy I know who is a bit of an old Honda parts whore...haha
No updates as of yet, chucked a fresh battery in Shuttle #1 (the standard one) tonight and took her for a drive, cant wait to get the Bilsteins in it!! stripdown and rust removal starting tomorrow morning..looking forward to it!!
So, got all the rust taken care of on my OG, stock standard Shuttle on the weekend. Lots of pics, I'll let them do the talking.
^ see, same spot as the other one!
All the holes in the top of the firewall (where the trim clips that hold the cowling and rubber weatherseal go through) had begun to rust. Again, nowhere near as bad as the other one, but you can see how easily it spreads.
Drivers A pillar
Drivers sill
Kelvin grinding
We decided to take the screen out, as there were some traces of rust visible around the bottom of it and also on the A pillars...dude had it out in like 15 minutes, knows his stuff!!
A pillar rust
Random couple of patches of rust at the bottom of the screen
Forgot to take the camera out the second day *facepalm* but now both wagons are rust-free!!
So next step is to get this one road legal again (just needs some shocks replaced etc) so I can start driving it. Then start swapping the suspension over..will be swapping torsion bars etc, the whole lot, so probably going to take it to a mate's workshop, get it on the hoist, and swap everything over there in one hit. Getting lots of sweet inspiration from around the way too, lots of fresh ideas. I'm very excited about this build!
Good shit, I am actually suprised at how little rust there is in that one! Mine has some coming through in the same spots and tbh its probably a little worse in some places.
Getting pwned by my double life at the moment, not getting enough time to play with Shuttles Here's a bit of an update for now anyways.
Took Stock shuttle (the one I was planning to swap everything into) for a WOF, put it up on the hoist (for the first time since I've owned it, lol) Only to find (here we go) that the front rad support is bent to hell, and rusted through, and chassis is bent. FFS!!!!
So, the saga continues. I only bought it for $350 so its not a huge loss really, I have had 2.5 years of hassle free motoring out of it, so its just a PITA. Just going to hang on to it as a parts car for now, and devote my efforts to the other one.
I got the heater in the slammed one to work the other day, which was a small victory, hasnt worked since I've owned it, pulled it apart to find the heater motor plug unplugged and melted....cut the plug off the other one and soldered it on. Also bought a sweet 1988 Autocar Magazine which has an epic 3rd Gen Shuttle review in it, will get pics and post it up.
Yeah the review will be interesting to read!
Gutted about your OG one being more fucked than was first thought, at least you got a sweeeeet parts car!
Having a heater in the slammed one must be nice, I havent had a heater in my CRX for 3 years and cant believe how good it is to have one in my shuttle
Picked up a set of Recaros, this one is mint....other one is pretty fucked but will just tuck it away in the garage until I have the funds to re trim it. Have a trackday coming up in a couple months so will hopefully get a rail fabbed up by then and have it in.
Also got a couple of "Move Man - Pleasure for your happy drive" cupholders - as I am a coffee addict, and the lack of cupholders was never going to fly.
Started collecting a bit more period motoring literature over the last few months...this Shell Oil NZ road atlas ...Metric edition yo!!
Showcasing 'scenic New Zealand' haha....pretty much all of these places are way more developed now
Not to mention the cutting-edge pink aerial photography!!
Couple of old regional maps too.
Also found this in the Shuttle...rear seat operating instructions, haha.
Couple of owners manuals as well
And got this folder stuffed full of old handwritten invoices for the Shuttle...from new up until '08
Flatmates project that is taking up the garage at the moment
Been so f&($ing busy recently havent had any time to devote to this~! Helping Wong out with the new shop, doing some stuff for P Car and breaking up with my GF...more money for the Shuttle I guess!
Blog will be updated soon from a small meet we had the other day, just waiting on photographer to edit the pics.
Got the clutch replaced on the weekend and now its like a new car, old one was slipping like crazy, now I can put my foot flat through roundabouts!! Looking at doing some mean sounds next as my fabricator is having a ligament operated on and will be off his feet for a little while
Went and got some new plugs, hooollley shit what a difference that made. Old ones were fucked and not even the right ones for the engine :S runs so much smoother now. Leads and oil change next week providing I make bonus this week.
Umm, I got the clutch for $50 off Shane haha he'd already bought it but didn't install it before he sold the car to me. Its great being able to put power to the ground!

To-do for this week is get a WOF and a service done on my OG stocker...then start getting into the swaps!
Oh since you're getting all rust fixed etc, new paint job? Or keeping it standy as much as possible?
Meant to say "Doing any fun ENGINE swaps?" Would love to see something tasteful like a dohc ZC in this

Action packed shot!!
^ this section of text gave me a good laugh, haha.
And I forgot I had this, old dealer brochure!
Man I'm a geek.
I love the picture on the first page of the review.
and the dealer brochure is really something else.... Amazing.
"Neither performance or handling are sparkling"
That is awesome! Such positive statements that im sure helped with sales

So many red Hondas!
Liking the recaro, should suit quite nice in the shuttle with the matching black carpet.
Still think we need to organise a shuttle meet for NZ, might have to pull some heads together at NIMM if you're going
I like the cup holders too

What did the clutch cost? I need to do mine pretty soon

And I lowered it more. lols.
Good point about the plugs, mine has an epic mis-fire/lumpy idle. It's pulls all the bitches but doesnt sound right.
How on eath did you lower it more? Wasn't it like 60mm off the ground before? Or did it get rasied up again somewhere?
Pretty happy with how she's looking at the moment!
