Looks great, cant roll the guards a bit? I had to roll the front guards on my shuttle as it was rubbing the writing off the tyres just like yours. Bent them up with my Koken Power bar handle and its sweet as

i made it on the lathe at work, the mark half way down it is a join mark, i made this one so it can split in too if the length gets annoying

Nice work and beautiful car! There was one here in Germany for sale a few weeks ago and seeing your car makes me regret not buying it.

    Keep up the nice work.

    Bet that never gets old.

Once I get my shit sorted and get the bodywork done as per our previous discussion we need to get a pic or two of the Shuttles together

    F*&^$(&* *&@#(*&;$(*&@$

Just pulled the cowling off this one to start the wiper repair and the whole area around the air vents and bonnet hinges is rotten...god damn it. Just about to head round to a mates who is a bit of an expert on older cars, see what he reckons, might be better off fixing the rust in my other one and swapping suspension/interior from this one over..sooo pissed off right now. Will put some pics up tonite.
  • 666DAN666DAN Wagonist
Bro you seem to attract the rusty ones, I feel for ya dude. Post some pics of the rust in both of them if you can.
    Ratshit luck

    Okay, well here we go.

So this morning I skipped merrily out to the car to remove the wipers, cowling etc for the short drive out to my buddies workshop where we were planning to fix the broken wipers..

First thing I noticed was this hori ass bracket...looks like this had happened a long time ago and instead of fixing it properly they'd just got a random bit of metal and riveted it on. Only one of the rivets into the firewall was actually holding. lol.

    DSCF1786.jpg

I own another one of these and this exact same thing has happened with the wiper on that one too...maybe a factory weak spot?

Anyways after I'd finished taking photos of the bracket I noticed this..

    DSCF1787.jpg

    And this..

    DSCF1788.jpg

    FUUUUUUUU!!!

So sent a txt to my buddy telling him this job might take a bit longer than expected..haha. Headed out to his place, we whipped the bonnet off and got into grinding it all back to see exactly how far gone it was.

    DSCF1792.jpg

First thing we found was a skin of bog all over the top...

What has happened is someone has originally been in there and patched up the rust but did not do a very good job and it has just rusted out from under the patches...

    DSCF1793.jpg

    Not cool!!

    DSCF1795.jpg

Drivers side ground back. You can see the holes for the bonnet hinge bolts top left.

    A holy firewall.

    DSCF1814.jpg

    Cuttin' time

    DSCF1820.jpg

A lot more of this to go...

I welded half of this  first time ever.

    DSCF1844.jpg

    DSCF1846.jpg

    DSCF1848.jpg

Even got wipers that work now...choice!!!

Gotta give a HUGE thanks to my mate Kelvin for giving up his Sunday to work on this...cheers mate!

Now, I have another red shuttle..

    DSCF1791.jpg

This has got WAY less rust, just minor, and also a very very mint (brand new from Honda a while ago) engine and box. Interior and bumpers are pretty f*cked though. It was bought brand new by a family friend who owned a Honda Dealership and used as their parts wagon...and I have known every single owner of this car personally. it still has faded workshop signwriting all over it which I think is pretty rad. Has a few interior leaks etc but is pretty much mechanically sound....and the heater works! (heater in this one doesnt)

So now what I am thinking is I will swap the interior, suspension, tailgate, bumpers etc and any other sweet parts from this shuttle into my other one ^. Put this one back to stock and sell it.

This way I get to keep the car with the most sentimental value to me, it has a mint engine ( the powerplant in this one is a little bit slower) and it'll be slammed. win win. Just a lotta work!

Thoughts? Seem to be a wise bunch on here, would like some advice!!
