Multi point fuel injection swap problem.

i recently did the swap and heres my list of parts i used

-d16y7 long block ( 60k was already in car and ran fine on DPFI )

-si injector box 1991
-pm6 ecu 1991
-si distributer 1991
-si intake complete with all injectors and fuel line 1991
- custom Monotech MPFI harness ( Very NICE!!! )
-new plugs
-new rotor cap and button
-new fuel pressure regulator

any ways heres the question now every thing is on and the car runs and drive no CEL's at all but it sputters like a miss or something like its not in time. so i put it in time still sputters up to about 2,000 rpm's and feels like a loss of power as well untill it gets to higher rpms and still feel like it has no power and kinda sputters...

so far i have put it in time, new plugs, new wires, new cap and rotor button, new injector seals, new fuel pressure regulator. I dont know what i should do next???? any ideas suggestions would be awesome as this is my daily driver and i need to fixed by March 23rd so i can drive to Pittsburgh to see Sir Elton John! ya thats right Elton John.

what procedure are you using to "put it in time".

it sounds like your mechanical timing is out.

just out of curiosity, what is your ignition timing set to?
  • any link to this monotech mpfi harness? you could of just done the wiring your self. you did the pin outs at the ecu harness?

all pins out were done correctly as for the harness it was only like 130 for the whole harness all reloomed and cleaned up and all wiring done it on ....

Make sure the simple stuff we get in a hurry with is right. I always get #2 & 4 plug wires on backwards on my first try and every once and a while Ill swap the map and TPS plugs around as they are identicle plugs. Also maybe double check that you tightened your main ground on the thermostat housing. i see a LOT of guys forget that (including myself).

so after checking everything it is the ignition timing like a couple people said...... so i needs to go out an purchase a timing gun now and fix this beast! so heres the next question? since i switched to MPFI do i use the ignition timing under the hood for the said DPFI or do i use the ignition timing from a MPFI civic?

You point the timing gun at the crank pulley across the timing mark on the plastic cover. All Honda's have 4 marks on the crank pulley. 1 for TDC mechanical timing and 3 very close together for ignition timing. You'll be looking to align the pulse of the timing light with the middle mark on the set of 3, normally red.
