The cam Knoledge

I was curious what cams (single Cam) are interchangeable with what, for example d16a6 into a d16y7?

    super broad question right there...

but the easiest way to lay it out would be like this

if the spark plugs are on the "rear" of the head, like an A6 or B2 or B7, the cams will interchange. remember 1.6 and 1.5 cams are indexed differently and will require adjustment at the cam gear.

if the spark plugs face forward, such as the Z6, and Y8, the cams will interchange. remember 89-95 and 96-00 cams are indexed differently and require the use of their original cam gear to find TDC.

heres where it gets cool... you can run a Y7 cam in a Y8 or Z6 head, making it a non-vtec head, if u swap the y7 non-vtec rockers over onto the z6 or y8 cam caps!

the d15Z1 motor is kind of strange as it has roller rockers and a strange VTEC system. i dont have any hands on experience with Z1 or the 96-00 HX motors unfortunately.

I was just taking apart the d17 and noticed that it had distributor groves, will the d17 cam work on the y8 or z6 head? :?
