    nice.
    i'm impressed.
you've turned out a nice wagon, while doing most/all the work yourself.
  • thanks fellas1

jdogg: yes im youngstatic from youtube.

this was done over a period of time (well monday to now)

here i foamed it up and forgetting that foam expands and it messed up my structure a bit from top and bottom. started shaping it though.

    606.jpg

the next day, when i woke i find my spoiler mangled. by mangled, i mean instead it being straight out the back it curved up like a duckbill. more like worse than that. but here you can see i sliced the top of wing to be able to bend the curve back to straight like its suppose too. also the wires thats holding it down while i finish shaping it a bit.

    607.jpg
    608.jpg

here i laid down 1 layer of fiberglass to keep it from getting mangled again the next morning.

    609.jpg

now that the wing is sturdy, i started foaming the areas that were like pot holes so i dont have to keep filling in with fiberglass to get it to be straight. this was done today 8/11

  • Coming along very nice! Awesome Ass "DIY" work!

edges doesnt look clean but i will take a rotary sander to it and make it all smooth and such. i did this wing a bit different than the actual chargespeed because the car is a rectangle/square shape and i want to keep that concept.

    what im aiming for

Really loving all the progress you've made on the wagon, I've been keeping up with it since I first saw the build thread on H-T
  • @ gamma @SLIMEBALL EE2 @ommarc44 @OddMarz

    Thanks fellas!

heres what i did today. i used a 60grits rotary sander to sand off the rest of the poking fiber glass to make it smooth for the next layer. camera died and didnt really take pictures of the process but heres a picture of the 2nd layer of fiber glass being laid down according to the lines to make that shape that i want. im getting really excited haha! where the HELL can i find gelcoat???

where're the new photos? i'm lost in this post...
  • of the car or the wing??
  • Probably both
  • Yeah, come on man! I'm tweakin' out over here.
  • there isnt any updates on the wagon really. just the wing. if there was, it was of definitely been posted here.

heres the progress on the wing. the layers of fiber glass are done. now its time to sand down before i lay down bondo.

    now where to find gelcoat...

  • love the wagon and have followed you videos on youtube before you even had this. great work, can only hope mine turns out half as nice as yours.
  • todays progress. i sanded down the wing and got it as smooth as i could. then i laid down bondo before it got late. as far as i see it, its seems to be pretty straight. tomorrow i will sand it down and lay down another layer of bondo.

this wing is a bit heavy to my feel because this is the 1st/prototype. it has the chicken wires/foam/layers of fiberglass/bondo on it. if i can get a good amount of people interested in the wing after its perfection, i will produce a quantity of it and sell/ship it out. IF i can figure out where i can get gelcoat for the mold :P

    on to the picture!!

Wow, I was having doubts with the weight and all, but really good first try. I saw in the previous pictures the arches weren't the same but maybe I judged too early. From the looks of the last image the wing is coming out very good. Great work!
  • thanks. cant wait to start on it again tomorrow!
  • NICE! You're gettin close... Looks awesome man.

I have to admit that when I first saw this wing in its early stages I was skeptical about the final outcome. You have made a believer out of me and if you decide to produce a finalized version after making the mold, you can count me in for two (if the price is reasonable  )
  • mrb88: thanks! im getting more and more excited the more i work on it. seeing that its taking shape gives me motivation to finish it.

ogwagon: i was too. i was wondering how the hell am i going to get this to sit straight when i glass it. then foam came to mind and i did that. then it fucked it all up cause i forgot (some how) that it expands. it messed up the structure which almost caused me to abandon the project but i wanted to be the "1st" to rock a chargespeed style wing. so i took on the challenge and try to get its form back which i did.

if you are interested in the wing, please pm as i already laid out my plans with this wing to be reproduced. this goes to anyone else whose interested! i think my price is reasonable.

i had a drunk person come up to me and tell me my wing is lifted on one side that the other. if my cousin noticed that, its something i have to fix. which today i did. like i said, im getting more excited the more i see the shape forming that way its suppose to look.

here you can see the end of the wing isnt straight. it curves in towards the driver side
    922.jpg

here you can see its shaped how i want it.
    923.jpg

and here its pointed up with a corner..kinda hard to tell.
    924.jpg

not really noticeable but it bugs me knowing its there.
    925.jpg
    926.jpg
    927.jpg

here i sanded it down to find high and low spots.
    928.jpg

you can see here that the edge before it folds down is way off and is a huge low spot.
    929.jpg

its all fixed now and i didnt take any pictures of it. more work will be put into it tomorrow. again i mentioned i didnt care how much this weigh because its a prototype to get it looking how its suppose to before the reproduction begins.
