Getting ready to swap, research time

So i got a civic hatch for free from a co worker. It didn't run, the clutch was shot, and the transmission had a little bit of slop. I'm a fan of rallying and have seen a few civic going around the rally stage so i though i'd give it a go, give myself a nice project to work on. Looking on craigslist for a new engine and transmission i found a wagon for 800$ which was a good deal considering it was half of what others were going for.

so now i've got it home an am working on pulling its engine and drive train to put into the hatch and need a little more info to be sure, and before any one says search, i've been searching and reading since i got it about 4 months ago.

questions are:

is the front suspension needed for the swap or just the shock/spring assemblies to raise it a little?
does anyone know how much i need to shorten the rear trailing arms by to make them fit the hatch? this one has been the hardest bit of info to find.

i have more but cant remember them right now, i'll make sure to post a build thread once it gets a little further, and if anyone is looking for parts after im done with it let me know.

Why would you ruin a good wagon to graft to a hatch? The hatch stuff is more suitable to rally use. Keep the wagon for a support vehicle and use the hatch engine and driveline for the rally car. Unless you are trying to use the AWD from the wagon, this would be a better solution.

Search for turbo_teg's awd CRX build on here. It's been a good while back, but there should be some help there.

small bump, thanks bam-bam for the useful post, not the junk from minwhl.

as for minwhl, i do agree with you a bit, i think the wagons are very neat cars and very comfortable but as of right now its not what i need or want in a car, later on i probably will pick up another, hopefully in better condition, unless i can find somewhere to store this until i'm ready to work on it.

Sorry for jumping you, but the Wagovans are so rare here in Texas I hate to see them cut up for projects. Mine has no driveshaft, but I hope to add it back some day to again have 4WD, like Mr. Honda intended.
