starting to look like a motor more and more everyday.
will paint that cover black....just didn't have any plastic adhesion promoter at the time. i have no idea what i want to do with my valve cover...any suggestions?
It's in the booth baking now. I put three nice heavy coats of clear on so hopefully I can sand it down and polish it so you don't feel the lines from the masking...
Edit, done.
@charb, what you thinking you want done? I have several spare valve covers.
Dude freaking sweet work. I got a sohc zc I picked up today. It was in my old wagon and he sold the car so I got the motor back. Needs work though. Gold engine paint huh? Where do you get that at? I actually thought you were gonna do valve cover black and fade it to gold.Keep it up.
Nice paint on the valve cover! I'dv'e done something different... I DID do something different, lol... which is why each of us builds our own. I couldn't think of a design I'd be happy with long term but it's good to see the process in pictures if I ever make up my mind! Are you going to leave the lettering painted the same as the background?
Well my night took a big pile of dog shit on me....
After waiting for a month to get the clutch we wanted, it showed up and we started on the install. FLywheel on
ACT HDMM Clutch
Then went to install the throw out bearing and clutch release spring and the fucking roof fell in on us.
That is how it is supposed to look, except on the back side of the throw out bearing the spring is supposed to lock in the tabs and hold it on, my clutch release spring is broken on both sides.
We did not realize it was broken at first. we just thought we were missing a clip or something that holds it on. spent a while searching and doing some research....pm'd both jaker and bam. I swear they both pm'd me back at the same time. jaker replied back and said the spring should be what holds it on....
Bam on the other hand literally got up. put his pants back on, went out to the shop, found an RT tranny and shot a photo of the bearing installed. took the bolt out and showed it coming apart, and then showed his spring that was broken as well. he then told me that he always replaces them every time he does a tranny. also informed me that they are $9 from the stealership.... Bam. You were a great help and i very much appreciate it.
Man you have no idea. Like I'm starting to be in a bad mood because shit keeps coming up broken lol. I've been a dick all day at work Until I got the call back from Honda parts saying they'll have it tomorrow.

Do it
Gold engine enamel, same as my motor. Baked in the oven for an hour at 200 degrees to cure.
Masked off first spots
Sprayed some bronze on, same color as my wheels
Then I just threw some black on for contrast and you get this!!
Thanks. I have a few other ones laying around that I've been meaning to paint I just never get around to it lol
Edit, done.

It is smooth as butter. I need to nib some of the dust and polish it but it is super smooth, can't even feel the lines from masking.
