    Looks real good! Mine next!
  • It's in the booth baking now. I put three nice heavy coats of clear on so hopefully I can sand it down and polish it so you don't feel the lines from the masking...

    Edit, done.

@charb, what you thinking you want done? I have several spare valve covers.

Dude freaking sweet work. I got a sohc zc I picked up today. It was in my old wagon and he sold the car so I got the motor back. Needs work though. Gold engine paint huh? Where do you get that at? I actually thought you were gonna do valve cover black and fade it to gold.Keep it up.

Nice paint on the valve cover! I'dv'e done something different... I DID do something different, lol... which is why each of us builds our own. I couldn't think of a design I'd be happy with long term but it's good to see the process in pictures if I ever make up my mind! Are you going to leave the lettering painted the same as the background?
  • H_civic66H_civic66 Senior Wagonist
I do have one question, what is the actual texture? Is it super smooth like it looks in the pics? Or before you sanded and cleared it? Thanks
  • I'm thinking about polishing the letters. I'll most likely shave another one and get rid of the emblems completely.

It is smooth as butter. I need to nib some of the dust and polish it but it is super smooth, can't even feel the lines from masking.
  • Well my night took a big pile of dog shit on me....

After waiting for a month to get the clutch we wanted, it showed up and we started on the install. FLywheel on

    442.jpg

    ACT HDMM Clutch

    443.jpg

    444.jpg

Then went to install the throw out bearing and clutch release spring and the fucking roof fell in on us.

    445.jpg

That is how it is supposed to look, except on the back side of the throw out bearing the spring is supposed to lock in the tabs and hold it on, my clutch release spring is broken on both sides.

    446.jpg

We did not realize it was broken at first. we just thought we were missing a clip or something that holds it on. spent a while searching and doing some research....pm'd both jaker and bam. I swear they both pm'd me back at the same time. jaker replied back and said the spring should be what holds it on....

Bam on the other hand literally got up. put his pants back on, went out to the shop, found an RT tranny and shot a photo of the bearing installed. took the bolt out and showed it coming apart, and then showed his spring that was broken as well. he then told me that he always replaces them every time he does a tranny. also informed me that they are $9 from the stealership.... <3 Bam. You were a great help and i very much appreciate it.
  • ALSO....yesterday we realized we were missing the bolt that holds up something inside the transmission (i forget what its called)...

    447.jpg

see the hole there on the right of where the passenger axel goes in? yeah that is straight missing.

soooo i drove up to my spare parts wagon and pulled it off...2 hours of driving for this...

    448.jpg
  • sorry for the trash photos...i was really pissed off today and didn't care lol.
  • Got my part ordered. $5.75 and it will show up tomorrow morning. Hooray.
  • H_civic66H_civic66 Senior Wagonist
Awesome, bet you cant wait til she's rididng again.
  • Man you have no idea. Like I'm starting to be in a bad mood because shit keeps coming up broken lol. I've been a dick all day at work Until I got the call back from Honda parts saying they'll have it tomorrow.
