What diameter wheel should I go?

I want to get a set of smaller lighter wheels so I can have some fun with my wagon. I want to enjoy the swap. Not just show it off. I was thinking maybe going with 16in or 17in. What do you guys think?

    get a nice set of 16s IMO :)

  • Hey NJ,

    I would go 16's. That is what I am rolling on now. It feels good..not too high and not too low. It's not too flashy either. Corners well..just work on your suspension alittle more. Some people like 15's like those Rotas (spoon sw388 look-a-likes) you see all the time..they aren't bad either.
    I'm not trying to sell you anything here but, if you want 17's I have an extra pair of these in white..you can go as wide as 225 on them.

    I was leaning toward those Black 16in Rota Slips. There are not too expensive and look simple. I like a simple wheel. I just dont want my tranny to work too hard like it does with the 19's. I plan to use the wagon alot more this summer. Maybe even take it to the track and have fun. My cousin and I plan to line up by the tree and let them loose.

    I also need everyone's opinion on what is the best tire out there. Im lookin for a tire that is good on the road and sticky for the track.

    Mrwagoman,
    Thanks for the offer but I dont think a white wheel is an option. Thanks though.
  • i like 15's for the weight - wheels under 12 lbs or so are fairly common and not to pricey, and 15" tyres tend to be lighter than the larger sizes...

    but buy what you want...

    Go with wheels that suit your engine and car.

    EF3 ZC DOHC's were OE fitted with 185/60R14 82H (Overall Diameter/OD = 578mm).
    Maintaining OD, the correct Plus 1 size is 195/50R15 82V (OD = 577mm).
    The correct Plus 2 size is 215/40R16 86W (OD = 577mm).

    I don't know what car your engine came from but i'd go with the sizes to suit that car.

    i vote 15's
  • make it a donk on 24's
  • I preferred my 15s over the 16s. Definately lighter but I guess it is in how much you spend on the wheel. I have a nice set of JDM 16x8s that a super light but they cost me a good bit of change.

    I just shipped a sweet set of German Zender 15x8s 2 pc with a 0 offset. Maybe I could have went wide body wagon with them :shock: . I am trying to snag another set.

  • hey if you find another set like that let me know... after you find your set :D

    No worries..I always come across rims every so often. I found a set of these but the rim was kinda bent..they woulda look good on a wagon tho..they were WORK brand rims.

  • If I had your wagon, I'd go with either 15" or 16" Rota Slipstreams. They are cheap and light. I would probably go with the polished ones instead of the black for your tits silver paint job, but black would look nice too.

    can't wait to see pics of your wagon with performance wheels... :D

    Rota slipstreams are not as light as people would like to think..

    Slipstream:
    15x6.5 = 5.64kg
    15x7 = 6.30kg
    16x7 = 7.44kg

    15's, black with polished mirror lip. that combo has never set me wrong on any color of any model car.

    I personally like 16's on all the EF's best. They just seem to fit well with most of the drops Ive seen on them.

    I run the Kosei K-1's in a 16x7.5 with a 225-40-16 tire and love the looks and contact patch. There are no rubbing issues and I even have a 1/4 spacer in the back for a little wider stance.

    Thanks for the replies fellas. Im going 16 with maybe 215 40 16 Azentis tires. I like the look and stance on shenrie's wagon.

    Thinking of Rota Slips black or full polished. I dont wanna spend too much on a 4 lug wheel. I wish to do a five lug conversion in the future.

    why?

    shenrie, your wagon does sit very nicely. A+, nice and clean.

    For one. A ton of better 5 lug oem wheels to choose from.
  • where can you get the 5 lug conversion?

    Thank you! Much appreciated!

    As far as more OEM wheels, I agree. The only problem I have is how vested I am in the 4x100 bolt pattern. 2 sets of fat fives, the Koseis, 3 sets of Tenzo wheels (poke 10's 18", Mach 10's 17", Sinkos in a 17"), LS 14", 89 Si's w/studs, 92 SE-R's w/studless snows. Im like a girl with shoes, its a sickness.

    The ITR five lug conversion is a direct bolt on for the fwd'ers, but for the awd it will take some creativness for the rears. Others on here have pulled it off, but I havent really looked into this all the way yet. You can get them pretty much anywhere anymore. JDM shit, Password etc....
