Rbwdrivens 90 civic wagon

Ok I just picked it up today.

Went and saw it last night.

Gave the guy a check to hold it last night.

Told him I'll be back to pick it up tomorrow.

So now tomorrow. I got it home.

As of right now it needs some TLC.

It needs a good cleaning.
Motor
clutch and pressure plate
hood and passenger fender
and various other small things.

But came with brand new 13" steel wheels with new tires on them plus a skunk coil over kit on it.

I really need to clean up the engine bay before I get to do any work otherwise I'll never get all the grease off me.

My neighbor said oh it is kind of cool looking. She said almost a mini me of your Discovery.

But she said I really like it and for the price you paid I'd drive the crap out of it.

I've got some plans for it but first thing is first get it running. Got too many projects need a running car.

Looks like a great start! And I don't see any rust, lucky!

I decided that since my hatch has cancer in it.

I will not purchase another cancer car.

I put so much work and effort into the hatch building it now I get to rip her all down and put all the pieces into another shell.

So now I have two builds going on.

This wagon and my RHD hatch project.

Finally got a car worth a damn. Congrats!

Peer pressure from Hoss and Bam.

Plus like I told you I still like yours.

Just easier to throw the kids in. Plus Not really keen on sedans anymore but really like the wagons.

I just have some minor plans for it. Not lots.

Just really need to get it sorted first and drivable first.

First order of business is to get a motor and degrease the bay.
  • What is it with wagons and fenders? Ill never understand
  • RevmaynardRevmaynard Council Member
Lol, when DIDN'T you like it? :p Wagons are too practical and fun to not be everyone's first pick!
  • rbwdrivenrbwdriven Senior Wagonist
    Josh,

With your's cant really think I've ever not liked it.

I guess the color, just makes it different.

Yeah seems like the fenders are the first thing to get nailed. Crx's are the same. But at least you can get crx fenders. I guess that is why I have a spare front end for a crx in my shed.
  • RevmaynardRevmaynard Council Member
I think hoods getting hit in the front where the crease is, is also another common problem with panels. lol
  • rbwdrivenrbwdriven Senior Wagonist
Right now the fender and the hood is little lower on the list.

As of looking at it a little bit more.

    I'm at the following:

    Degreasing of the bay
    Motor
    clutch and pressure plate
    radiator and fans
    air compressor
    hood and passenger fender
    rear seat buttons
possible window driver window regulator. Seems hard and wobbly.

But got it for a good price and he threw in a jdm cluster. Not sure I will use that or not due to doing the RHD conversion on the hatch.
  • Pass mirror is sweet! Looks like a nice find

Hopefully this weekend, if it is nice will be a clean up of the wagon.

Pretty much as nuts as it was at my house last weekend.

All I got to do was tow it to the house and put it on the side of the house.

I'm hoping I can knock out some of the cleaning.

Are passenger side mirrors rare on the wagons?

Are the wagon specific or can they be swapped with sedans?
  • lil'ghostlil'ghost Council Member
passenger mirrors were like an extra option, like rear mud flaps. they are wagon specific. you could try putting something else on .. but they won't look so great, lol.

and most everything is specific to the wagon. you could put sedan window regulators in, but the glass won't go down all the way.

Could you use the top part from the wagon that attaches to the glass and use the rest from a sedan?

I guess it will be experiment time at the old casa.

i don't see why not.. lol. if bam wasn't out of town, i'd say ask him, lol. but, from what he's told me, that no matter what if you put a sedan regulator in [maybe the glass doesn't matter] it won't go down all the way, but he says it's a small amount that won't go down, um..like.. the top part of one of your fingers. lol

I guess I'll figure it out when bam gets back.

It is on my honey do list for that car.

Right now the focus is getting it running.

Then make it the way I want.

You're putting a Type R in it right?
  • rbwdrivenrbwdriven Senior Wagonist
Na all my stuff from my white hatch is going into the RHD shell.

The guy we got all the jdm sheet metal from I ended up getting the clip from as well.

Plus other shopping experiences all around the world with various people.

    Including engine.

I'll be putting in a motor TBD.

I'm going to try at least to have a mpfi in it.

    Welcome, Richard!
I know this old guy with a sh!tload of wagon parts, but right now he's sitting shirtless in Key West, enjoying a breakfast beer on his 20th anniversary...

I'm looking for a job here.

Yeah I know that guy as well.

Really nice guy. His trailer went missing on sunday morning.

I think you need to put the bling hubcaps on pebbles del sol.

    Nice! I like it alot.

I even dig the steelies! Can't wait to see how she turns out. Take care of her.
  • rbwdrivenrbwdriven Senior Wagonist
I've actually found a guy selling Honda hubcaps.

I'm almost tempted to rock them.

It is either that or I'm using the drag-16's off my hatch.
  • rbwdrivenrbwdriven Senior Wagonist
Well did not accomplish much on the wagon this weekend.

Except I no longer have a black engine bay.

It is nice and white. Still needs more love but I'm under a personal deadline to have my hatch stripped to a shell.
  • You don't need to replace the drivers front window regulator, you just need to grease it. Get white lithium grease and a syringe (like for mixing epoxy), or at least white lithium grease in a spray can. Pull the inner door panel off and grease the track, the crank gear, and especially the spring. You can barely see the spring through one of the little holes in the door. It's coiled up like a lawnmower pull-start return spring and when it gets rusty it starts to bind. Turn the crank while greasing to really get the grease into the spring.

I was planing on doing that.

But my issue is my handle rocks back and forth almost like the regulator is trashed, you can see the regulator splines coming out of the door panel kind of thing.

Once I get the hatch parted out, I'll delve more into the issue.

Sounds like it's past the point of just lubing it. We'll dig one up for ya.

Well decided to take the day off today to get rid of my 89 civic si hatch to the metal recycler.

So after that I picked up and cleaned up.

Moved the EF9 back into the garage.

    441.jpg

Moved the wagon to where the EF9 was.

    442.jpg

Took the crappy matrix seat covers off to reveal.

    443.jpg

    444.jpg

    445.jpg

Figuring out what I am missing.

    446.jpg

    447.jpg

    448.jpg

Also got given this when I bought the wagon. Not sure if I will keep it as a spare for the Ef9 or sell it.

    449.jpg

Started throwing stuff in the wagon part of the trunk from my HF build that was trashed.

    450.jpg

These are the wheels that are going on the wagon.

    451.jpg

Probably got to raise it a little due to how bloodly low it is even with out the engine in it.
