Ignition timing a6/y8

wat would i set my ignition timing to on d16a6 block with a y8 head to? i also have my cam gear advanced 3* on the cam so 6* on the crank if that makes a difference.

when i search ive read 12* and 16*

  • honestly mines advanced 6 with z6 high comp pistons a6 bottom i would say try it at 12 in limp mode check to see if it zeros out spark knocks on pull everyones build is different get more bottom or top all on were you set it check plugs or wide band witch ever u have air fuel- so much comes into play i tune chip myself ever need hand or info dont b afraid to ask =] love to help out

    just use a timing light. move it a degree at a time. start the egine then use timeing light. move it advance a degree to see if it moves adv or retard. turn off engine and adjust the gear. do the oposite on the gear to adjust it till your dead on with the timing light and the pulley gear down below. remember to leave the dizzy center and do not adjust that while your adjusting the cam gear.

    i have the same setup. pretty fun to do if you have a few hours of free time.
