Transmission Swap for 89 RT4WD

Actually, I need to get a used transmission for AT Rt4WD 89. I am wondering if 91 RT4WD transmission will fit into 89. How much will it cost to install the tranny at garage? If the tranny is in local town, can I pick up with my wagon? or is it too heavy to pick it up with my car? need oversized ship?

Thanks

Tranny is heavy but the wagon can do it. You're probably better off doing it yourself. Good luck.

If I ask ship then, could be UPS? I am wondering if they can do that?

Yeah but shipping is going to be expensive! Probably going to have to put it on a pallet to ship because of its size and weight.

I'm not sure how incredibly different it can be, but a non 4wd honda tranny can be lifted by one decently strong person. just bring a buddy with some guns and lift that sucker into your trunk.
  • The auto trannies are a lot heavier than the manual ones. I doubt UPS would ship the tranny through their regular package services. Their limit is 150lbs, and I'm concerned that the auto tranny (especially a 4WD one) will be more than that. The manual RT4WD tranny is about 125 lbs.

i use to ship trannies with UPS i had to strap them to a lil homemade pallet and then wrapped them in plastic. its expensive....
