this is my 03 forester xs with 287k miles. i got it with 233k. i got it after i started working at the subaru dealer near me. i had been thinking about it before i quit my shitty tire shop job to become a subaru tech. its the closest think i could think of that was as close as possible to the wagon but newer.

theres not much going on with her, head gaskets were puking when i got her. i got this one because there was almost no rust on her. especially for being in the rust belt. i got her to daily while the wagon sits in the carport behind it.

while my original plan was to just daily drive it, its never that simple. things break or wear out and then i upgrade if i can. did the headgaskets with arp studs. got nice tires, installed led headlights and tail/brake lights. upgraded the brakes because i tow with her. nothing special just xdrilled/slotted rotors. replaced them once already.

this is where stops being simple, i plan to h6 swap her, keeping the 5speed.

I briefly owned a 60k EG Si, which honestly I should have kept after cleaning it up (basically a barn find), getting some correct new hubs, redoing the whole suspension, etc. But selling it:

Which I was lucky enough to own for a few years until it got rod knock (had 220k on it!) and I had to decide to either have the motor rebuilt for 8-10k (just in parts!) or pass it on to someone else in the community. I decided to sell it knowing the market probably wouldn't allow me to own another one again. It was a bit soul crushing, but that's how it is sometimes.

In the meantime I had an EK I got from Oregon:

A great little car. Threw in a rebuilt Y7 and an EX 5 speed, and did some OEM+ mods, but I needed something a little nicer after selling the NSX to use as a daily.

Back to Cali and I picked up a car that's been on my list for a while but never had a chance to own:

Now with TL-S brakes and TL wheels, it's my daily and I love it. Such a great car. Some tasteful CTR mods and It's pretty much done for now although maybe a K24 swap in the future.

After driving the FA5 for a while I needed another project. I really wanted an EF chassis again, but after 3 wagons in a row I wanted something a little different. I thought about an Si hatch, but I've had a lot of those, most recently this one from LA (I think this was in-between wagons 1 and 2):

So taking a break from wagons, owning 4-5 hatches in my past, not really being a sedan guy generally, it only left me one option, and something I've never owned before:

Hello, greetings from eastern Europe. I rarely comunicate in english, so please excuse for poor grammar. I would like to share the info and fotos of my vehicles. Also I appreciate any comments, critics or instructions on further modifications. EH1 First one is 95' Honda Civic RTSi. I bought it 1 and a half years ago as a new daily. I remember when I seen that kind of civic about 5 years ago... It looked so unique and appealing. That day I added that car to my wish list among other uniques. In our country these cars are very rare, I think there were no more than 10 of them. For that moment I know only 3 that are alive, and one of them is mine. Our climate and road maitenance are very ungrateful for these poor civics, almost every of these models were very rusty. And one day I saw that civic on sale. At first I wasnt very interested, because it was seriously damaged by rust and my finansial situacion was too bad to restore that body. Time passed, nobody bought it and the seller changed its mind, started body welding. After half year, he put that car on sale again, but the body was rewelded. My finanses were better and I made my decision. All my previous cars were fwd (almost all of them were civics), so this model was new experience for me. At first it was so strange to drive this car, it looks like a one of a million civic, but it acts so different. Handling was different, grip was outstanding, offroad capabilities just blew my mind. As you can see, at first I used it for offroading (just because it gave a lot of fun and this car was very good at it). My first mods were to improve offroad capability - I added to S22 tranny a slow gear (was huge improvement) and changed rear diff (that was identical to CRV) to Intrac type (had VC unit ant Viscous LSD). Also did small lift and put bigger wheels. After that it was great offroader, kicked asses to many subarus (even foresters), quattros and similar vehicles. Later that year, when winter came, I discovered that this car is very fun to drive in snow. Handling was predictable, so for amateur like me it was good start to develop driving skills. After winter I participated in track day event and was very happy with results - with this car I was much faster than earlier with more powerfull, lighter and more race type of civic. Maybe my skills advanced, but RTSi was so predictable at high speeds, that I decided to make a trackday car from that. Now it looks like this: So enough of these stories, and lets review the car. Engine: It had D16Z7 engine with S22 tranny (similar to Shuttles L3, but hydro and without SL gear). I planned to go turbo, but I had one think to worry about - transmission. S22 tranny is very rare, so the only choice would be to change it to cable L3 tranny, but it requires a lot of modifications. So I started to think how I can solve this kind of problem. One day I called to local junkyard and asked the prices of CRV tranny and engine. The prices were lower than I expected, so the fate of d series engine was clear. I bought everything I need to swap B series and in one weekend installed it. It wasnt bolt on, It needed to weld two mounts for tranny, make custom shifter cable, and of course shorten the propeller shaft. Later after some track day events I felt comfortable with that 140hp engine on a 1,3 tonn car and realised that I need more power to get better results. Car run just 16.2s 1/4mile and took 8,9s to 60mph. So I found cheap b16 head and arp studs. After ecu and cam tuning it ran 14.6s 1/4 and 6.6s to 60mph. Not bad improvement I could say. Setup at this moment: B20Z1 block with arp rod studs and oil pan baffle. B16A2 head milled 0.8mm with adjustable cam gears. Stock manifolds, 60mm exhaust, 76mm intake pipe. And also LPG system, because petrol is really expensive in comparison with average wage. Body: As I mentioned the body was damaged with rust, so I had to clean them, weld some holes and do the proper anticorrosion. Also I installed full vti interior, JDM 4gen prelude center console and double carpet for more silence. Sadly the exterior is quite trashy, because I have no practice in painting and I cant leave this car in paint shop for month as it was my only transport to work. Maybe in near future Ill manage to solve this. Suspension: 26mm front swaybar, no rear swaybar. Koni yellow adjustable shocks with way too soft weitec springs. All bushings changed to poliurethane. Front caster increased to 5 degree. Using Team Dynamics Pro Race 2 R15 7j wheels with BF Goodrich street tires 195/50. Brakes: Front 282 4x100, rear 260 4x100 discs. All parts are ATE manufacturer. And bonus surprise: One day I had a fun idea to experiment with exhaust manifold. It looks like crap, but the purpose was different: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1AzVbjRUd8 Obviously this manifold was total crap in HP gains, so later I changed it back to stock. Plans for next season: Make it 100kg lighter without throwing out interior. Change rear diff to cast iron from shuttle and install OBX lsd in it. Change gears to H22 setup. Stiffer spring setup RD2 About month ago I bought new daily - 00' Honda CRV. Managed to find rustless one. It has leather seats (no heating ), and also B20Z1 engine. I like everything in it except one con - there is no SL gear. Its very hard to climb on sandy hill. For RTSi that kind of hills was peace of cake. Also the dual pump clutch pack is not enough for difficult hills. Luckely the second issue is easy to solve. So my plans for it... Change 4 and 5 gears to longer ones from F series tranny. Instal H series LSD to front. Steal rear diff from RTSi Spray bottom with aticorrosion coating Maybe some turbo?

Well I couldnt resist, was a $1 reserve auction on trademe (NZ's version of eBay essentially) on this CRV. Ive sort of been looking for one for a while now but always wanted a Manual facelift one.
This is a PFL Auto.

Plus side is it only has 121,000kms and is otherwise pretty good condition. Also it is a JDM model rather than a NZDM which means it comes with:
-factory Privacy glass (darker tint that legal in NZ, but let off because its part of the glass)
-Little bit more power
-Nice bullbar with PIAA spot lights
-Factory Navigation (doesnt work) with CD and a TAPE PLAYER!!!! which I will replace if I keep it

At this stage I am considering fixing the damage and selling it again to make some money then buy a Manual one. Or I may just keep it as its quite a nice car, also has a tow bar which is useful.

Well, I have showed a couple of pics before, but here is my CRX in it's proper place on the fourm.

The story:
I purchased this car right before I graduated high school and headed off to college. February 13, 1997 to be exact. I had been looking for a Honda for a while, particuarly a CRX. I found this one on a used car lot. It was a one owner (female owned) and had 101k on the clock. I gave $3,000 for it. It was in great shape, the paint a little faded, bit not bad. I drove it to college for a year, and then decided to paint it up nice. My uncle owned a body shop, and I went and spent a week with him. He taught me the in's, and out.s of body work. He showed me how, and I did the work. We removed all dents and gave her a coat of DuPont 1996 Volvo Brillant Red. I was in love. I drove it all through college and took it to NOPI Nationals in Atlanta for four years in a row 1998-2001.
We've been through alot. Several accidents - one of which by the way was a week after I painted it! A break in with a cinder block, and many miles and stories. All along I have collected goodies for it and she will always be my baby. I currently have around 210k on her and she spends most of her days now off the road under shelter but loves to come out and play on nice days.

Some of you may be familiar with my 1985 4WD wagon on here, I have been a member of efcivicsedan for a little while now and I decided it wouldn't hurt to start a little progress log/restoration on here. Now for a little background information on this old 1988 DX sedan. I picked it up from a guy in Gaffney, SC which is about an hour from me in Charlotte. The guy claimed that he got it from a younger kid who's grandfather was the original owner. The kid did some damage to the car but luckily I got it when I did. Bumpers, rear flaps and BMW bottle caps all dusted with a very thin layer of plasti-dip.. Which was loads of fun trying to get off. The car had 109,XXX original miles when I picked it up, along with a bent passenger side headlight bucket that was half way repaired at some point. A few other little issues here and there but regardless it was a fairly clean body with low miles and to top it off it's an 88/89 which means NO AUTOBELTS!

Here is the night I drove it home, my old 1991 LX and the new (to me) 1988 DX

Here is a picture of the interior before I touched anything. Shift boot, both driver and passenger side vent were all broken. Holes in the carpet, headliner and seats.

Here is the damage on the headlight bucket:

And the bay:

Swapped the DX cluster with an LX that I had, also put in a CVCC steering wheel, fixed the vents and swapped out the faded dimmer switch for a clean one.

I saw this car for the first time when I went to look at a 91 wagon owned by a guy who ran into a friend of mine in a parking lot admiring his WRX wagon. My friend passed me his number and I went to take a look.

A 2 owner, never driven in winter, 62k EG Si isn't something you stumble across often across the US in this day and age, much less one you find in Wisconsin. Initially I talked with Johnathan about helping to sell the wagon and the Si but eventually a friend of mine said he was interested in buying the wagon. Jonathan and I talked about putting the wagon up for 4k which seemed a good price given the market today. The wagon is a 1991 RT4WD with 97k miles, never driven in winter. What!? This guy basically has a best-of early 90's museum at his house.

Jonathan thought 3k was a little low for the wagon, but I asked if he would sell the wagon and the si for 3k each if we picked them both up. He agreed and after a few missed connections I ended up going to pick up the Si first. After seeing the Si move out of his driveway Jonathan decided not to sell the wagon. I guess seeing one piece of 90s nostalgia leave was too much for one man to handle. I know it would be for me too.
I don't know how long the car sat, but it was at least a year or two. Lots of sun fade, and clear coat damage to the roof, and also noticeable on tops of the body panels. All the molding is cracked and the tires look pretty dry rotted as well.

So I've owned my grey wagon for nine years now, but I've always been an EG (EH actually) guy. A lot of you knew my B18C5 1992 CX build that I made all my Honda MB usernames from.

Well I had to sell my B18C5-EH2 five years ago due to some home repairs issues, but I swore I'd either buy that car back, or replace it with something nicer. Well, something nicer came up. I call it the K20SC-EH3.
Electric MR-2 P/S pump on a relay/switch that I can turn on or off at will
S2K front seats, matching RSX rear seats, perforated leather inserts on door cards to match seats
IMMOBILIZER WORKS
Tucked harness, shaved lines, mild shaved bay
I'll be fixing a few minor issues with my wagon, then I'm selling it. I just cannot keep FOUR Hondas, and honestly the wagon serves a similar purpose as this EH3 hatch, but does everything worse than the EH3.

Alright, so I recently picked up a new car for a project which should be a whole lot of fun, and I imagine there may be a bunch of interest from fellow enthusiasts as it is evidently quite a rare specimen. As mentioned in the title above, it’s a 1990 Honda Civic RT-Si, so it’s a 4 door sedan with the 4WD drivetrain from a 4WD Shuttle (“wagovan”) and the DOHC ZC engine.

It is pretty well completely stock, it’s jacked up from the factory to all-high hell, has under 170,000km on the clock and appears to have been garaged its entire life. No rust anywhere in it except for one tiny panel on the back where it once touched a letterbox. I know from experience it is doing very well for a Honda of this age as I am currently losing my ’88 EF3 Civic Si hatch to rust cancer. The only thing wrong with the new sedan really is its automagic gearbox. Unfortunately the old hatch’s time has come and is due to come off the road in 1 months time, hence my decision to undertake this exciting project to make a cool new daily driver while making the best use of any goodies or spares from the old one.

So, the first plans that are causing my initial concerns are how to go about lowering it and converting that slushbox to the real deal. This is my desperate cry for help so I am finally joining a forum and making a thread. I’ll start with suspension:

I eventually want to make it sit really quite low, enough to make it look very sweet at the cost of making speed-bumps quite an inconvenience. Handling, too, is an equal priority. For the meantime, I’d be happy with getting it at the same height as my old hatch (keep in mind it looks high in the pics as it’s jacked up on one side). The hatch has king spring lows in the front, super lows in the back on KYB shocks all round (I believe). After reading that the suspension is very cross compatible between the hatches and sedans, I took one of the rear struts out of the hatch and threw it in the sedan, to find that it actually made it sit ~1cm higher on that side. After some serious WTF moments, I then took out the strut to compare it with the original. As you can see, the spring itself is definitely shorter, but the spring perch on the factory shock is a lot lower to give the suspension more travel with a smaller strut. This results in similar length struts, meaning similar ride heights.

After doing some further reading, people encounter the same problems with the wagons and it seems they are what these different styled shocks are engineered for. Something to do with Honda taking into account that people will be loading up the trunks with more weight... My theory is that they’ve incorporated that suspension in this sedan because of the 4WD system in the rear end. Apparently the front is no different between the EF hatch, sedan or wagon, so my old front struts should be ideal; I just haven’t had a chance to try yet.

I’m concerned with how I am going to achieve my ideal height in the rear while maintaining the good sporty handling I have in the hatch. I’ve looked into coilover sleeves for putting onto the shocks I have, in which case I can just adjust them to the desired height. However if I use those KYB shocks for example, winding them down a couple of inches to the desired height will result in having very little suspension travel. Can anyone shed any light on ideal ways to get around this? Would it be possible to have the KYB shocks rebuilt with the bottom piece of the sedan’s factory shock to shorten its overall length, give it that lower spring perch but maintain its current amount of travel and stiffness?

Now, onto the manual conversion: It uses the same 4WD gearbox as the 4WD shuttles. These are also quite rare thus so are the gearboxes. I have actually managed to locate a parts shop relatively nearby who tells me they have a 4WD manual transmission for a ZC engine, but it is from an EG chassis and has the part number S22. This one in particular is very affordable, too and hopefully in good condition. It sounds like this will bolt on to the engine just fine, but I am not sure if there are any chassis mounts that may not correctly align, or if the output shafts to the rear diff might be in a different place or something. Again, any light on the compatibility of this gearbox would be greatly appreciated.

Another thing I have just read up on is Honda’s INTRAC system. There are a few INTRAC stickers on the new car and from what I have just read; I am (optimistically) gathering that it has some kind of LSD(s) in it. Would this just be in the rear end? Would this potential new gearbox possibly not have that, causing me to downgrade in some ways or cause any incompatibilities?

Please excuse my very long ramble-on and thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide. I hope some of you are as excited to see this car fulfil its potential as I am!

I have a 04 CTS-V. Its full bolt on car. Its the reason behind the cadillac_dave login name.

This build is getting heated up, it's time for a thread. Should be a fun little car. Here's a lil' history.
It started life as a CRX HF. It's always been quite the little bastard child.. I've had this car since I was like 19 or 20 years old or some shit... Actually this was the first Honda I bought after moving to the East Coast in '06. Needless to say, I've learned lessons in and with it. About life and driving. It's taken some serious abuse and now it's time for another life. It has been beaten, good. It has been pushed up and thrown down some real deal mountain roads. It has served as a daily, and it has always been aggressive. This CRX has been sitting on the side of my shop for the better part of 3 years. Time to change that...
4-6 inches. the bed is from a model a ford, just with no fenders. and the grille is from a 1947 (maybe)dodge power wagon and a custom cow catcher that is not finished yet. the truck is on a 1956 ford f100 frame set up for a small block chevy. it has a 305 out of my old 1982 camaro. the transmission is a th250, and a camaro rear end. the front end is from a 1930 model a with original mechanical drum brakes ( they will be converted to juice disc brakes eventually). i am either going to make the truck a roadster or put a cab on it from a 1949 ford f100, because there is a lack of headroom.

I had a look at it about 6 months ago and didnt have the time or money to get it, Texted the guy and he still had it. It has a 97 B18cr with some skunk2 goodies on it. wiring was a mess and i'm slowly sorting it out. I've replaced the fiberglass bonnet/hood with a stock one, also have a set of non tinted taillights. I've taken out the adjustable suspension and put stock stuff back in for now. taken off the 16s and put my mr5s on. Replaced the hood slam panel with a beagle one, I was surprised it fitted!

So realllllllllly long story short, I am having troubles getting the Element Title.

Now those interested in the long-er story continue reading- otherwise skip to pictures!!

So I cant register the Element. Because I have no title. I cant prove ownership. I paid cash. I am out 15k. Sort of. It's been 6 months since I purchased the vehicle. The guy had a lien on the car via Wells Fargo. Wells Fargo should have been holding the title or so one would think. They didn't have it. The state of Missouri didn't have it (where the car was registered). Illinois didn't have it (the state where the car was purchased). Nor was there any sign of it being titled in recent years.

Guy promised title over and over again. And I was like ok, because Im a huge push over. Still no title.

^meanwhile during all this (and because I believed the Element title would show up sooner than later) I sold my trusty wagon. I sold the wagon because I was going to save up and buy something cool or something RHD or something weird this summer... I dunno. I was willing to wait and look around for something that I thought was neat and different.

SO I try to bond for a title for the Element. Basically, do a bunch of shit so Colorado will make me a title. But to bond for title you have to purchase a bond. A bond for a 15k car is expensive (I was quoted 1500-4000). You eventually get the bond money back, from my understanding, but 3 years later. I find this out midway through the bonding process. Where was I.... O so during this process, I get a vin inspection by Colorado's finest. The vin inspection has to be done by an officer and not the regular old emissions place because this shit is serious- they say- in not so many words. So during the vin inspection the cop sees my old license plates I've been running (from the Element I wrecked). Cop man is not happy. Takes them off for me. Tells me to park the car and don't even think of driving it with fake plates because I will be super fucked. Again in not so many words.

So I park the Element.

Fuck.

I have 3000 dollars saved from Wagon.

I use it to buy this shit box. Basically I just wanted something that ran, had a clean Colorado title, would pass emissions, and could get me to work. Those 3 things are surprisingly impossible to find for 3000 dollars. I regret selling the wagon at this point.

Meet Jennifer. She's fully legal to drive on the streets.

I took the clock to the engineering department at work and had them fix it.

I stop by a friends house and buy a bunch of shit I dont need.

Feeling pretty good about Jennifer, as I finally get her titled, insured & registered, literal moments later, I get on the freeway and the window trim starts flapping in the wind. Let your hair down Jen. Perfect.

I went yesterday to look at a AWD wagon on I found on Craigslist. The wagon looked like crap. The old guy was really cool though. He had the 91' I went to look at and a cherry 85' RT too. We got to talking for a while. While talking with him I spotted an old civic sitting down in his field. I asked him about it and we went to look. What I found was a super solid 1979 civic 1200. It has zero rust, straight body panels, owners manual, and original key! I asked him if it ran, and he said it did last time he tried. After dropping a battery in and a little starter fluid - she fired right up without even smoking! I had to have it. I talked it out of him for a cool $900. I drove it 60 miles home with hardly any brakes, had to e-brake it most of the way but I made it home! Got to love Honda! The only other problem it has is a replacement fender and a little bent front end. He did this when pulling it with his motorhome and it fell off the tow bar. No biggie. Odometer reads 49,000 don't know if it has rolled over but considering it's condition, it's doubtful. I believe I got a pretty good deal. I guess this starts my summer project. Super stoked!
Just picked up this CRX HF for 500 bucks last friday only thing is it has a blown head gasket. But other than that, it's a pretty clean. The plan is to get it ready to be daily driven. So instead of fixing the current engine, I'm just going to upgrade to something with a little more power. I'm going to steal the b2 from my wagon. The wagon has a couple of things I want to address and it's going to take a while so for the time being, I'm going to use the motor on the CRX. Pulled the broken engine this weekend and trying to get the motor in before the end of the year.
I will be mating the HF tranny to the b2. I plan on getting a SI tranny if a good deal pops up but this will work for now. Awesome thing about the HF's is that they came Multipoint fuel injected and as far as I know it's a plug and play deal when I use my a6 intake manifold.

I have a Honda story I want to share...
A very good friend of mine, I'll say.. basically "abandoned" this car in my yard, mid "project".. A little over a year ago.
(Still searching for a picture of the state in which he left it, but who wants to take one of those...)
I grew extremely tired of looking at it.. and seeing as he would likely never touch it again, I convinced him to sign the title over to me, in trade for the work. I am ALWAYS down to contribute to his again, "projects".
Last week I decided to throw it back together, and chuck it up in the yard with a FOR SALE sign on it to clear some space and grab some cash..
After having 2 different guys come and look at it, only to low ball the WAZZOO out of me.. Knowing that my swap alone was worth more than their offers combined.. :x I decided to start to spruce up some of my old work.

Unfortunately for people that come to my house and see the jalopy sitting in the driveway. Whatever bug that it had, bit me, and now I kinda like the stupid thing... Becuase I have always wanted an air cooled VW or Rat Rod or Patina style something! But Honda has HAD me stuck.. and sooo I thought "what better than a Honda with a little patina?" Let alone a FREE one!

Well I sold my Cherokee and pocketed some cash and bought this. 1991 LS, 5 speed, power everything (works). Chassis is at 187k and the engine was replaced with one that had 133k (previous engine used oil I was told) and they did a water pump, timing belt, clutch, and basic tune up at that time. Pretty clean overall, only one DENT. A few dings and scuffs.

I bought this armrest advertised as fitting a wagon....well it didn't. Big surprise...turns out it was for a 90-93 Accord which luckily for me fits in the DA! I need to refoam it and clean the fabric up/replace it, but I mounted it up today for the hell of it. This is mostly going to be my back and forth to work car so I can stop putting so many miles on my wagon....and power everything sure is nice!

So, yes, I have a 89 RT4WD that I haven't posted any pics on yet (car is still being worked on, promise to post at some point). However, I fell into this gem a few days ago. Story is that a friend of mine who was looking for a 80's Honda called me up and asked me to go see it and give my mechanical/buy opinions. Long story short, he backed out and I stepped in and bought it. This is a car that just turned 50K miles. It is crazy original. There is not one bolt or hose clamp missing in the engine compartment. I suspect that everything you see is factory original. It is a one-owner car from Kentucky. It needs some TLC, the cooling system needs to be flushed, the brakes bled, the injector seals replaced, etc. But it is very driveable. Not the most sought after Honda, but I hope you can appreciate the OEM original quality. Enjoy....

this is my 1986 4runner.i bought from a friend of my moms for $400. it is the 22re with a 5 speed. its the first year for the independent front suspension. it has a removable top. and i have a bikini top from a jeep cj for it when the roof is off. it has almost 330,000 miles on it now, but still runs great, the transmission was changed before i got it, about 35,000 miles on it.these are pictures before the lift, i put 1.5'' ball joint spacers in the front, and did the zuk mod(coil springs around the bump stops) in the back. ill try to get pictures of how i sits now soon. other than that i had to make an exhaust for it, and changed the timing chain, waterpump, oil pump, etc. because the plastic guide for the chain was cracked.

this is pretty much how i got it.

this is after the lift and 33x12.5x15 rims and tires.

i only painted the valve cover with vht wrinkle paint and added an aem air filter.

i made a set of rear dodge pickup shocks work because i didnt want to buy lift shocks, so i cut the shock loops off of the toyota shocks, and cut the dodge loops in half, and welded the toyota loops to them.
