ive been stupid lazy about starting a new build thread. but on the other hand ive gotten a lot of work done since i got this wagon. so the story begins as i heard about a nearby junkyard has this wagon, i took a day off work to travel an hour to do so. i get there after we got this massive 2 foot snow storm, so me and my gf have to dig it out of the snow to even see the lower parts of the body panels. we get it all dug out to find no wheels, bad front brakes, no heater blower motor, and no dizzy. body had been repaired so that was good. $600 later i had a new(to me) wagon. so inside of a week i had swapped all the needed parts to get her road worthy in the 2 feet of snow that the sky just dumped on us while in the freezing temp range. and one of those days it was freezing raining while i did the front suspension swap.(that sucked alot)
either way it all worked out in the end and she has been awesome ever since i rescued her from the junk yard.

exterior:
blue front bumper with custom lip and fog lights
removed orange lens from bumper lights
6000k HID low beams
JDM tail lights
blue undamaged hood and tailgate

pic of the day i got it, it had no wheels on it.

Bought this wagon almost 2 years ago blown up and put a z6 with a Jackson superchager in and it just wasnt enough power for me so after coming across a sweet deal on a GSR motor and CRV trans swap I decided to do the swap. My grammer and spelling suck so deal with it but heres some of the highlights.

After removing the old supercharged single cam I got the crv trans and a mock-up bare b16 block in the car to do a lil test fit. The drivers side mount is just a standard b swap mount for an EF so you have a good starting point to get ya heading in the right direction with building the other 2 mounts.

First thing I noticed was the rear crossmemember need a lil messaging with a BFH to clear the trans. After soending a lil time making sure the engine was level and square I made a temporary mount to let me hang the motor and work on building the rear mount to get the proper lean to the engine.

With the engine tilted to get the flange of the driveline coming out straight I chopped up the crv rear mount and tacked it together while in the car. I later cut it and moved it again so this isnt the final rendition but you get the idea. The rear mount on the crossmemeber is just a regular b-series ef swap mount.

After that I chopped up and made a more proper passenger side mount.

At this point theres a few steps that can be done different ways. I realy wanted to use a hush hydro conversion but an innovative remote mounted clutch master was a cheaper and easier way to go and its working great with a lil adjusting. For the speedo I had also wanted to do an DC integra cluster swap and keep the electronic speedo but I was in a hurry so I put a mechanical speed sensor in and notch the shifter cable bracket to make it fit. Axles are still the same stock rt4wd front axles they worked great. Crv header almost lines up. I had to cut it and turn it maybe a 1/4 inch and it was perfect.

Before I forget I used a 90-93 integra 5 speed half shaft!! Anyways onto the shifter. My last crv trans seapped wagon I bought from shay used the wagon shifter and cavles with a nodofied crv trans cable bracket. This car I decided using the entire crv shifter and shift cables was the best/easiest to do since I dont have an easy way to weld aluminum.

Okay were gettin close of course theres tons of other lil odds and ends that are common in a d to b seap in an EF like besting the unibody to fit the alternator, fitting a throttle cable, getting the correct fuel line to the rail from the filter blah blah blah im sure most of yall can do that stuff.

So the last step and this is how I did mine and if ya wanna be a fag and talk shit about not using the CRV driveline and rear diff well go eat a bag of dicks the ratios and close enough it will be fine im sure. So I had my neighbor help me build an aluminum adapter then had the wagon driveline shortened and ballanced. Ive driven the car about 200 miles since it was finished. Well when i mean finished its running and driving the next step is gather some turbo parts and shoot for about 300+whp because why not??? Again my spelling and grammer suck and im tired as shit writing this up. I dont get on here much but i know not all you are on facebook so I figured I would share. Please feel free to ask any questions and ill do my best to answer them.

After looking around for a few months of importing a civic shuttle I got lucky and found one close by!

This is currently my new project car named Gargamel, who always wanted to eat smurfs. I named my shuttle after him because for now they both are just as ugly.

It is 1992 1.6l 4wd greenish shuttle made in japan (according to vin number).

When I got it it was getting ready to be prepped for painting, so as you can see some of the panels are off.

There are quite a few bad parts about this car, but hey I got it quite cheap.

Good thing is that it has most of the original interior in tact. I did start fixing the driver seat tears and right away I got the whole interior cleaned.

Since I got this car from a previous owner that works as a mechanic and DD'ed this shuttle, most of the mechanical bits worked incredibly well.

The engine was also really clean and rebuilt. However, I got this offer for someone to buy my 1.6l stock engine, and luckily in our clubs garage there was a pretty much good to go d16z6 motor lying around. So before I could even make this thread I sold my stock engine and bought the new one. I did promise myself that this car for once would NOT be for the sake of power upgrades or going fast. This is because I already own a 172 renault sport clio that is prepped for racing on gravel and I dd a lightly (400hp) evolution X.

P.s. It has the original honda tow hook!

Interior was incredibly nasty. Cigarettes and all kinds of nastiness.

Old motor getting ready to be taken out.

So my desire is to make this shuttle a comfy, stylish retro looking car that I could drive on the weekends and sunny days as mostly show-off car.

This car needs so much love I hardly know what to do. It has the clunk and a bunch of problems.

However, for now the plan is:

- Get the new d16z6 fixed up and ready to go in (needs some light work)
- Get rid of all the rust and weld the panels etc.
- Paint the car in J45 racing blue (solid, non-metallic) color that comes from renaultsport.
- Find an original honda radio unit.
- Get the middle "wing".
- Get the fugly window tint off.
- Put on new roof rack.
- Make a decision on 15x8 wheels.

This is the color I want my car to be:

Last but not least I want to ask you guys for some big help.

My next most important step is to figure out how to make my shuttle sit a bit lower, and still have as soft suspension as possible.

I do not want to "stance" the wagon and have negative camber. I do want to have somewhat of a "meaty" bulky look, having more tire.

I did look into a bunch of build threads on here and read almost all things concerning suspension that I found on here.

Firstly, do I need to flare the fenders?

Secondly, what suspension set ups coilovers etc. you guys would suggest for me to get as most comfort as possible and have the car sit like this one:

I will say it again it does not really matter how the car will perform because I just want it to be plushy and look good.

I am really looking forward to buying parts and getting this car to stand out of the crowd!

I took this picture three years ago and haven't done a thing with the car since. Until today. I finally washed it (first time in three years). Then I organized/inventoried all the parts/peices I have/need. After that I dove straight into replaceing the timing belt and water pump on the D16Z6 I'm using for the swap. Man it looks like shit, but it's getting better!

I figured it was about time to post my wagon up, i've only owned her for about 2 months but I've loved her since I bought her!

So I had been looking for a wagon for a year or so pretty vigilantly but all the ones I found had been ragged out, had chopped up swaps or were sold a couple days after they were posted. Once I saw this one pop up in Dallas I called the guy, after an hour and half conversation we agreed on the price, 2 days later I went up and drove her back to Austin.

She's an 88 DX, original motor with 233k on the clock, working AC and formerly working aftermarket cruise control (stopped working after I power washed engine bay and didn't care enough to figure out why ). She was 100% stock when I got her besides the sony head unit and polk audio speakers. Here are the couple pics from the original CL ad.

The wagon's in pretty nice shape except the cracking material on the rear seats and the usual door dings. Needless to say I was pretty stoked! Even came with some nice 88-89 CRX wheels with fresh tires!

First off is always the tune up! Holy hell this thing had oil leaks everywhere! enough to the point that I topped it off in Dallas and it lost a quart by the time I got back to Austin! So along with the usual spark plugs, spark plug wires(which were the original wires from 88, c'mon seriously?!), cap, rotor and air filter. I also did the valve cover gasket, tube seals, dizzy o ring, oil pan gasket and oil change. Needless to say no more leaks and she really woke up! During the tune up I also noticed that the drivers headlight bracket was busted and half ass'd repaired. Luckily I found a guy locally that was parting out an 88 wagon so I got both his headlights, HID's with yellow high beams, rear mudflaps and both front window actuators, all which are now installed.

So after immediate maintenance was complete I had to start 'making her mine' as I like to call it. Started by fixing some small things, replaced the broken glove box and broken center vents(thanks CodyJDM). Then I went a little parts crazy on eBay lol. First off was a $10 short shifter from eBay which is probably the best $10 i've spent on a vehicle in awhile! Felt like I had to cross county's to get into 2nd gear! Also threw in my old favorite teggy shift knob. After the short shifter was installed it just didn't look right with the stock shift boot, so I made one out of a Tito's Vodka bag, I dig it!

Got new hatch lifts off ebay aswell as in the first week I got the wagon I took it up to best buy and got an alarm installed, (kind of a requirement in my neighborhood) so I have keyless entry in the wagon! Next I just set out to get all the rare options for the interior.

First was rear speaker pods.

I followed the install guide on here and it honestly wasn't even that difficult.

Next was the armrest, I paid a pretty penny for it, and it was broken
Luckily i'm pretty resourceful when it comes to stuff like that. So the top lid was cracked, like someone put too much pressure on it and fell through, aswell as the top cloth being worn out and the padding pretty much disintegrated. I should have taken pictures during the process but forgot Pretty much what I did was disassemble the lid and cut out a piece of thin plywood using the lid as a template, then using a combination of super glue and loctite I pieced the lid back together, putting the plywood in the middle, and it was as sturdy as ever! For the padding I simply found an unused piece of pipe insulation, using the lid as a template, cut and applied with loctite

The finished product without the covering.

I was having a bit a trouble deciding what fabric to cover the armrest lid in, then I remembered I had a pretty large Jager meister bandana laying around. So after a bit of arts and crafts time with some spray adhesive I had my new armrest lid

Installed

And last but certainly not least was the EDM center console. I couldn't find one in blue so i settled for gray. If anyone has a blue one they want to trade i'm down for a straight up trade! Also if anyone knows how to make the ashtray and cig lighter lights work please educate me. Either the harness that came with mine was bad or the wagon just didn't like it because I had to use my stock harness to get the cig lighter to work at all.

Other than that i've just done some small things to personalize my wagon.

EE2 love decal

Old Skool love plate frame

PW:JDM hood spacers

Broadway 270mm convex x2 brightness rear view

I've also got limo tint all the way around, installed EF9 stanley side markers, a black datum 1 rear tow hook and an ebay hood bra. This is pretty much how the wagon sits right now.

Any comments/suggestions are welcome! Sorry for the shitty cell phone pics, i'll get some decent ones taken once I restore the paint and get the bumpers paint matched. I'm also picking up a set of BMW bottlecaps this weekend so those will be put on once I decide how I want to refinish them. I'm thinking white with a blue lip. Before anyone gives the "needs moar low" post i'm working on it lol. I want to do skunk2 pro series v2 coilovers and a full bushing kit at the same time, so it'll be a little while. I've also already got about 75% of the parts needed for my swap, which isn't a D,B or H if you know what i'm saying... Hoping to have that in by next summer.

Here is my 89 wagon edm build. I purchased a shuttle in the Netherlands and had the front half cut and shipped to me. Currently it is torn down for rebuild and paint. Full shaved bay and gsr motor Simi built skunk2 internals stage 3 cams. It also has a legacy ragtop 35"x55" to let the sun in along with a ton of other goodies any questions just ask...

Hey everyone new to civicwagon and new proud owner of a 90 EE2 wagon FWD for now lol. I just recently bought this and got a pretty great deal off someone who was moving out of Colorado and no longer could keep this dream project of there going. Big thanks to Brent for hooking up a deal and making it a possibility for me to own this bad boy. Figured I’d post some first day photos of this shuttle and some of the first projects that I ended up doing. I really can’t wait to fully restore this gem back to its full glory and hopefully ever better then it was from the factory. I’ve dubbed this little shuttle “Appa”. Hope y’all enjoy this build and may it give you guys some new ideas and inspiration like everyone’s build has done for me.

day 1: journey to its new home

She a little rough around the edges but not the worse thing in the world. All the key parts are there full interior, full exterior, not too much if any rust (thankyou colorado climate). Needs a new trans was about the worse of it all due to a bad reverse gear syncro but who need to go backwards when you can go forward lol

I been tracking down and coming across random parts and ppl who are doing part out (luckily) so been buy a lot of stuff that I didn’t need but since it’s around and available I figured I minus we’ll start collecting. Be Got a new trans, new hood, jdm side markers, few new plastics for the interior that were just slightly better condition then mine, dc2 center console (future project retrofit hopefully🤞🏽) and a set of aftermarket ek fog lights.

First major project was to redo the front end. Gotta add the ek fog lights and I wanted to do all amber corners and bumper markers to match the jdm side markers. Started pulling all the light housing out to get buffed and painted and installed the foglights as I wait for paint to come in.

These ek fogs took a lot more effort then I originally thought it would take. They really do fit the placement and spot of the bumper super well damn near stock looking. I also feel they really flow and complement the bumper grill insanely well. Im going to make a write up on this whole process because I realized I’ve seen a bunch of ppl with the ek fog light mod but no write up on how they did it. I’ll definitely add the link to that when I finish that up but a brief summary of how I made this possible was using some of the original brackets that come with the aftermarket ek light kit and ended up remaking the top brackets an rivieting them all straight to the bumper. Warning you do have to cut away at the front fascia behind the bumper so if your not ok with that these are definitely not the mode for you but just two small 3x4 squares due to the aftermarket lights being to deep and hitting once the bumpers back on.

the bottom bracket rivets that you can see on the front bottom of the bumper(as seen in first photo) get hidden by the lip (as seen in second photo) and can be paint to match if you don’t have a lip and aren’t so noticeable. Since I’m still waiting on paint to finish all the other lights I ended up installing the side markers so I can run the wiring all at once for the markers and fogs.

I'm back.

SOOOOOO story time?

I had a CRV for a little bit. Just until the Element title got sorted out. It got sorted out. So I sold my CRV. The night before my CRV was to be picked up by the new owners, I was cruising craigslist for no specific reason.

I should preface this with- my wife told me; "After the CRV sells, please stop buying cars for a while". I agreed, because I had other plans and was researching importing some things and registration laws in Colorado etc.

Anyways, I was cruising craigslist, and a wagon popped up claiming it had 66k original miles. My spidey senses were piqued. I Called. I drove over to look at it. Confirmed mileage. And condition. Did some research on the seller’s story (He said he bought it at an estate sell from 90-year-old lady who had passed).

I found Ethelyn's name and info in the original warranty book in the glove box. I found her obituary online. I read all about Ethelyn for some reason. She died of cancer. She was actually 88 years old. She bought the car new and it was delivered to Ralph Schomp Honda in Littleton Colorado in 1991. She put 31,000 miles on it, before she passed in January of 2012. Real cool fact about Ethelyn- she got her Bachelor’s Degree in 1945! Kind of a crazy time in history... and I don’t think it was a common thing for a woman to achieve during her era. I’m pretty sure neither of my grandmothers have degrees. I imagine Ethelyn was extremely smart and strong willed.

The guy I bought the car from was equally interesting. What is it about these wagons that attract the most bizarre people? I forget his name, but he loves going to estate sales and his property shows it. Everything he owns is a little weird and perfectly preserved. When I went to look at the wagon, standing next to it was a 4-foot tall dinosaur. I knew at that moment; I would likely buy the car. He was also 50 something (in age) and still skateboarding. He had 4 or 5 skateboards hanging on the wall and other skate paraphernalia lurking around. My senses were overloaded.
He told me he had been driving the wagon (for the past 4 or 5 years) to keep the miles off his truck and his other wagon (an old ford). He was selling the civic wagon because he picked up a newer Cadillac (wagon)---- at an estate sell--- obviously. We agreed on price and I told him I’d be back in the morning to pick it up. He said he had to work, but his wife would be in.

That morning if you recall, people were stopping by my house to buy the CRV. They came. They purchased. I called an Uber as soon as they took the keys. Straight to pick up a new car like my wife specifically told me not to do.

When the wagon owner’s wife let me into her home- it was like walking into another time. 1950 to be exact. Midcentury modern. Only everything was authentically from that time period. None of the fake shit from Ikea. It was actually really cool and fascinating. The kitchen, where I signed the papers, also fascinating. Who are these people? Can I be friends with them?

Anyways, I signed some papers and gave away some paper$ and was on my way.

A little about myself:

I started my passion for cars at a young age while hanging out with my Grandfather. He's an old school V8/Hot rod guy so of course I too wanted a big V8 car of my own. My first car was an Automatic v6. Fast forward to 2010 just out of high school and long days waiting tables at Cracker Barrel, I made my first big purchase. A 2001 Mustang BULLITT #5118. Is was a great car but I found myself getting bored of the car after a few years. In that time I met my good friend, Paul. He owns a beautiful 35xt clone named P-Nut. Paul expanded my knowledge into the Honda "Tuner" scene and most importantly the 88-91 civic chassis. I was hooked! For whatever reason I was stuck on the Wagon chassis. The goofy yet functional trim was the best of both worlds. And boy was it a blast to drive and put a smile on my face no matter the day. To this day I have owned three wagons, one being RT4WD. I've owned a handful of other cars from a C5 ZO6 to a 68 VW Beetle. But none of them were as much fun as my wagon. One last bit of information, my friends and I raced in the 24 Hours of Lemons in 2018 at New Jersey Motorsports Park. This was my second time racing Lemons but the first time racing my own car with my group of friends. As you can see below we raced an EF hatch with an imported Vtec ZC and 4 Speed STD trans. The car did amazing but the trans had to go. It now has an Si trans.
I finally got a wagon! After waiting for a while, I bought it for $700 from my brother. First owner was an elderly lady. Second owner was a 40 year old lady. Originally she bought it for her daughter, but it just sat in her garage for a year. Then comes along my brother and scooped it up for $1250 with 75,000 miles. Two years later, my bro sold it to me for $700 as said earlier, with 90,000 miles. It's an auto and 2wd. Interior is clean. I'll get more pics later of it. It was painted green by Macco by 2nd owner. It has a couple dents on right front door, back left door, a dent on top of the rear wheel area, and a pretty big scratch on the rear left side. Also, radiator support is pretty bent. Has electrical problems. Auto seat belts don't move, indicators don't blink, non of the gauges don't work except the RPM'S, and lever selector doesn't move when car turns on. If some one could tell me the problem I would appreciate it.

Really don't have plans Il just do things as they go.

Right now, Im waiting for my brake pads and rotors and window wipers which should be coming tomorrow.

Here are some pics If I figure out how to upload them lol.

Hey dudes.

So this is my new car, it's super tidy, 170.000ks on it with all the extras.

I have basic plans for the car,low down on some quality 15" wheel.

Possibly tint glass and stereo.

Does anyone know much about the enines and drive train in these cars? Do they present any problems?

I am also intrigued if fitting a vtec engine is a possibility, have just started searching on here for info so will carry on investigating.

Thanks and all the best ! ✌

All right, so here it is, as I got it. So far the only thing I've done is had the windshield replaced. Lots of cracks, bulls eyes and starburst chips. I probably paid too much for it.

It's got a sloppy shifter, I've got an Energy Suspension bushing kit coming in to take care of that. I was debating on whether or not to install a short shifter at the same time. But I'm not doing any racing in this and I've heard that they're bad on the synchros, so I'll leave that stock.

304k+ on it. Supposedly 50k on the engine and transmission. It does have a good amount of pep still. I'll do a compression test when I've got a spare moment.

One thing I would definitely like to do, as I've been reading up on it here, is a 5th gear swap. 3000+ rpm at mild highway speeds is not fun.

Anyway, on with the pics.

It's got a busted up driver's seat unfortunately, that has been covered by some gaudy ed hardy looking cover.
Anyone got a fender?

And what the hell, why was a section of the hood frame cut out?!

Busted panel in back. Would love to get those bigger ones that run the full sides and have the compartments. Those seem near impossible to track down though.

Water leak somewhere? Wondering where the rusty residue came from.

The door catch binds up and pops a bit, it seems it's pulling out too far. A bit of bent metal too. Not sure if I can hammer it back or get back there and replace this part or what.

Yuck! Got some all amber ones coming in. (No I don't, I'm a dummy and ordered hatchback ones)

These look like they've gone for a swim as well. Have some new headlights coming in. I'll probably pop these apart at some later date and see if they can be cleaned up.

New Valve cover gasket is on the first things to do list.

Hi Everyone,

If anyone is interested in a 1984, I listed my H.C. on facebook market place for $1,800. I still would like someone who is seriously interested in wagons to purchase it, so I thought I would send out this post. I have three cars and don't want H.C. to be parked on the street anymore and only driven once a week. Just trying out my options for going forward.
This is my pride and joy

She sat in my mechanics shop for a couple of weeks because the clutch pedal was broken and I had to switch the entire pedal assembly, after that all was good until I got her insured and drove her for a day, she decided to not turn on when I got out of work the next morning so I brought my mechanic to take a look at it, at 1st he said it was the alternator, my father luckily went to the junk yard the same day it didn't turn on and was able to get me a alternator. After installing it, turned on for about 5 mins then turned off again, he didn't bring the machine to check the battery so he checked the distributor and the spark plugs, turned out that the spark plus weren't giving out any spark, at 1st I was goin to buy a new distributor and spark plugs but then we found a small wire that wasn't properly connected inside the distributor cap, finally we got her running and drove her back to where I live, she drove well for a entire day then when I was out with my girlfriend looking for a nice place to have a party at for her sister and daughter ( baptism, all wagonist are welcome lol). Yea u guessed it she turned off again this time i was sure it was the battery, when I went to open the hood and I noticed the handle to release the hood was jammed so I went out and tried opeing it and I saw the cable that releases the hood, so I pulled it and just my luck it snapped so now the hood locked and my battery is dead and to top it all off it was pouring out, called my mechanic and my father to come and help me get the hood open took us about 3 hours to get it open.

This was how my hood ended up looking after opening it, so now I jumpstart her and buy a new battery, as I was driving home my girlfriend noticed white smoke coming from under my hood, I thought it was the heat from my engine that made the hood hot and the rain was just evaporating, I was wrong my radiator broke and started leaking so I take it to my dads house and waited till the morning to get it fixed, when I woke up I bought a new radiator and after the mechanic installed it he noticed the reason why it broke my thermostat was plugged, bought a new one and till today she's running great.

I after all these incidents it was time for a good bath

I hope to get more pics and do more interesting things in the future but I'll start with some very newb and basic questions for now. she-ra's got some cut coils on her and drags her ass everywhere when I'm on deliveries in the mountains out here, and I want enough clearance to get some chains on for the really hairy conditions before it's too late. so I'm meeting up with a friend tomorrow to put stock coils back on for now until I get around to a lift.

I thought finding a 4th gen civic in a scrap yard would be easy but nobody out here has one. one yard has a 86 crx and a couple 95 civics and I'm wondering if I can scrap the coils off of those.

I'm scrolling through this thread https://www.civicwagon.com/showthread.php?3002-EE-EF-DA-Interchangable-parts-(Please-Add) and I don't know what I'm looking at, honestly, and need to go to work. when I'm off tonight I'll look up what these terms mean but for now I'm in over my head and short on time.

any help would be much appreciated and rewarded with pics as I get going on the build, but that'll happen anyway

What a story.
It is said "if walls could talk"... well, if wagovan's could talk what a story mine would tell.
This is not the first time I've owned this particular wagon and of all the wagon's i've owned I should have never let his one go.
I originally fell for her back in July of 2007.
I saw her on Honda-tech and for the very small agreed price of $1500 I headed out of the far east coast to obtain her.
Somewhere around 22 hours of driving later she was in my garage!
Only three problems with her, small dent on front of hood, 2 inch tear on drivers seat lower and she would not recognize her button to lock into low 2low.
Anyway, she was pretty much perfect in our eyes.
My wife would driver her.
I would drive my ZC swapped 2wd wagon daily and our date car would be our vtec crx sporting black on black on bronze on black ;-)
Plans change, namely, in this situation, a 99 subaru forester on ebay to the sum of $1500 with transmission problems.
19 hours of driving later and she was in our garage.
Something had to go, I said at first which ever of the wagons sell first... then I feel in love for a impreza in TN.
Ended up delievering the ZC swapped wagon to a kid down there when I picked up the Impreza.
Sold the CRX to my cousin because it wasn't family oriented (My wife still is not impressed with me on that one and neither am I)
Worked out a deal with my wife's grandmother to buy the rt4wd wagon for my mother-in-law who had recently gotten out of jail and was "working to get her live straightened out"
So no more hondas, what a sad time for us.
Life is full of should-have's, but I should have kept the rt4wd wagon as my daily and my crx as our "date car" and the forester for my wife and kids... dream on i guess...
So my mother-in-law turned out to not change her ways, big suprise, and the short story is that she trashed the car and got it impounded about a year or so ago for DUI.
I went to buy it back at auction, but my wife's grandmother insisted it be bought back for my mother-in-law which her husband did for a grand some of $300 plus a now Salvaged Rebuilt title as all impounded vehicles have around here.
Fast forward to more recently.
January 1st 2010, my mother-in-law is arrested for DUI again and the car is impounded.
This time there is a manadatory hold on the car for three months, she will be going to jail for violation of parol and no one, finally, will be buying the car back for her... time for me to take action.
At this time I own an awesome 2wd 5-speed wagovan bought from a now great friend on these very boards, whom obviously missed his wagon and becuase of some recent changes and need for employment was back in the market for a car.
So I sold it back to him, delivered by myself minus the Thule Roof Rack it came with :-) that'll be for my rt4wd when i get her back.
That was in march I sold him back the Wagon antisipating the three months hold to end... Not that simple.
I spoke with the police over the impound many time, had to jump through a lot of hoops and still didn't get the car to auction until May 8th 2010, just this last weekend.
I brought $775 just in case with the intentions of buying the car and paying taxes and getting it tagged that day even if the auction went high.
My buddy called me at the last minute and asked if he could follow my wife and I over becuase he wasn't doing anything.
He did.
Good thing.
They bid me up.
I was told by a few people there that they set me up since they already knew I wanted the car.
Some random dude pushed the bid to... wait for it... $1000, geeezzzzz that was my whole budget practically and the car is trashed and needs tons of work... buy my wife helped me hold strong and was very happy with me afterwards.
My buddy gave me his $200 he just happened to have (I paid him back monday) which gave me just enough with my wife running to the bank to make up the extra $25 and pick up a battery for the car since they jokingly said all the batteries were stolen the night before, yeah right, they even laughed as they said it.
But guess what, after being trashed and abused for 3 years and setting not driven for 5 months, she started right up!
What a trooper!
It is sooooo good to have her back.
I truely feel terrible that this mint clean car as been reduced to this but I will make things right again for her no matter what.
Welcome home fish bowl, we should have never let you go!

I do have tons of pictures I'll upload some of which tonight.
I spent 6 hours on her that day, probably more and 4 hours on her sunday and she's a great deal better.
I have a list to post of all the things I done to her so far and fixed and replaced so stay tuned.
I drove her to work today and yesterday and my love is renewed, It's almost unbelievable that I have her back.
My wife and I could not be more please nor focused on making her right again.

If you have followed me before............ You would know i have a 90 civic wagon. Well after using my daily as my project car and having it get stolen was not ideal for me. Since that incident i have been driving my 90 civic wagon everywhere! couple trips to Seattle, San Diego, San Francisco, just anywhere i needed to go. i was looking for a specific wagon, which you will learn why later but it was a year and a couple months before I had found one.

the time before i was able to find one that had everything i wanted, i spent most of my time searching and sourcing out parts i had imagined for my upcoming wagon build. Well very anxious because so many nice wagon builds were happening and being imported, I started to search CL in different parts of California.
Well a wagon with all i wanted popped up. 88-89, with grey interior and 5-speed. sadly it did not have A/C but that is fine, its on my to-do list.
keep in mind, i bought a 89 rt gold with brown interior that made it to LA from San Diego and I was to unhappy after getting it home because it was not the project car i had in mind and i ended up selling it the same day. So here was no way i was letting this wagon out of my hands!

i contacted the seller and he was willing to hold it for me because of how crazy this plan sounded. he knew i was serious.
So this wagon was up in Santa Rosa! i was ready t drive up there when my friend suggested to just take a flight up there. So another friend and I bought tickets from Ontario airport to San Francisco airport. we had planned out to take the Bart and then a 2 hour bus ride. However on the air plane a nice elderly lady told us there were shuttles that went to Santa Rosa! it was only 10-15 dollars more each and we would have gotten to Santa Rosa earlier than we had expected. SO we did just that. after a 3 hour plane ride, and 2 hour bus ride we were here! getting the wagon I had been waiting for!
We start checking out the wagon and it is what i have been waiting for.
I was skeptical it was not going to make the 8.5 hour drive home, yet it did. We stopped by some friends houses on the way home to pick up more parts i had been looking for and ended up not getting home till 4 am Saturday night.

so here i am now, with the newest wagon to my collection. I am going all out on this wagon.

I wanted to take a few moments to give thanks to those who either helped me find parts, sell me parts, bought my parts, or shined light on to ideas i had planned for this operation. If you know me and know what i have planned, please keep it to yourself. i want everything to be a surprise

well lets get started?
So, the first thing i did was let it sit because i am to busy and preoccupied with school, athletics, and my internship to even touch this wagon.

this morning i was up early like usual and decided that before i get started and finished my studies i should work on the wagon. working on cars has become therapeutic for me, just like running is therapeutic for me also. keeps me busy and my mind off everything for a while. I wanted to start off my cleaning the whole car out, i pulled out the seats the trimming the door panels, everything.
and that is where i stopped for today i have my plan to clean it all out, because i actually found weed and a crack pipe under the carpet.......

sorry for the suspense. looks like we have to wait till next week. i know i am sad too! because once i started i did not want to stop... but i had to stop so i can finish my school work.....

well follow me on instagram if you want, ill follow back. if you are not creppy.... Michhamlin <---- my username

and lastly, hi Bill!!!

enjoy the photos,

sorry there are not a lot, yet.
not sure on how the links stuff works but i am hoping that there pictures will show up!

I get excited when I go to buy old Hondas. The problem with this is that I often take the car at face value. Add to that I'm usually 2000+ miles away when I'm picking it up and the start of a new adventure kind of electrifies my senses and smooths over any issues that I notice in the next few days of ownership.

With that said...this is the story of Neville. The 1991 Honda Civic Wagon that got it's name when it crested 100+ mph on the historic Bonneville Salt Flats. It wasn't all historic location and smiles though and that's where the story will start.

Day 1 6/30/15

Caitlin and I were supposed to both arrive in Sacramento at 9:30, meet the seller at 10:30, do the deal and leave at around 6 am the following day. I got delayed for 3 hours in Seattle so that plan fell apart as the minutes ticked by. A new plan formed and we were going to meet the seller at 8:30 am the next morning and go from there. The seller was great, his family was great, and the smell of a 4th gen Honda in the morning was great. We went over the details of the car, went for a test drive and the sealed the deal. We were on the road by 10:00am!

A quick note about this cars history. The seller had bought the car 2 weeks prior from a board member on civicwagons.com but then found out he was having another kid and decided he had to sell the wagon only weeks after owning it. I was in touch with both the current and previous owner prior to the sale and felt good about picking it up. Back to the story...

Day 1 was a quick jaunt from Sacramento to SLC. A 9 hour, 650 mile ride. We headed out and before we knew it we were climbing into the Tahoe National Forest and hit the Donner Pass summit at right about 7,000 feet. From there is was a decline and 80 mph on I-80 into SLC. Although we were told that the oil had been recently changed I checked it on our first fill up and it was 1/2 way between the dots on the dip stick and black as night. It looked like it hadn't been changed in a year. That put me on alert and I checked the coolant too which looked like they took the other 1/2 quart of black oil and dumped it in. A stop in Reno at a Jiffy Lube cost $197 for a coolant flush and oil change. (Current total extra cost $200...we'll keep an eye on this through the story) We stopped at the Salt Flats on our way out just as the sun was setting. Took some amazing photos and took Neville on his first high speed run, cresting 100 mph out on the flats.

We had a great time out on the flats and after a quick fill up at the local gas station we started our last short leg into SLC. Unfortunately luck was not on our side and as we were coming into SLC the tachometer blinked out (my first thought was distributor) and then the rest of the dash started to dim and as we coasted to the corner of 400 W, 600 So....the car died.

I spent forever trying to find a flatbed to come pick us up (4WD y0!) and 2 hours later the car was being towed to the hotel parking lot...8 blocks away.

Current total extra cost $300.

I tested the battery and found it at 11.4vdc so I knew it was dead. It was either the rectifier in the alternator (no battery light on the dash) or a bad battery. After getting to the hotel 2 hours later, the water pressure died after I got done with my shower and luckily there was a shower down in the 24h pool area so Caitlin showered and we took a dip in the pool. So ends day 1.

Day 2

I got up 5 hours later, grabbed the battery, got a cab (total extra cost $320) and headed to Autozone. The guys there said that the battery would take 2 hours to charge if it was good, or I could wait 30m and find out if the battery was good or not. As the battery was nearing 4 years old and I didn't have 30m-2h to wait (at this point were about 6 hours behind on the trip) I bought a new battery ( total extra cost $440). Cab ride back to the hotel and the car started up and was showing 14.4v! Bonus, the alternator is good. But a free check at Autozone would be worth the 10m drive. I pulled into Autozone and rechecked the battery and it was at 12.4v. Boooo....the rectifier was bad. The only good thing was that as long as the revs were above 1.1k the alternator put out 14.4v, so neutral at stop lights, keep driving, and disconnect the battery overnight and we were good to go! Before I left Autozone I thought that I should do plugs and wires as the rest of the car maintenance seemed to be lacking in a bad way. (total extra cost $500) Well as I pulled out the first plug I noticed that there was some oil on the plug and it looked fouled. #1 and #3 both had oil present, and #2 looked like there was oil there at some point.

A valve cover gasket kit later and we were in business. (total extra cost $530) We left SLC 6 hours behind schedule but the car was running better than it had up to this point. We aimed East and started climbing into the Rockies. I'll say this...a 1.6L motor which had 108hp when it left the factory 25 years ago doesn't do so well at 11,000 ft. We hit the summit and dropped 6,000 feet down to Denver and hit town around 10:30 and had a nice late dinner at the Stout Street Social ( http://www.stoutstsocial.com/ ). We walked to our hotel downtown from the restaurant and crashed for 6 hours getting back on the road at 6 am for our final day.

Day 3

Ahhh...day 3. 14 hours of planned driving which turned into a 20 hour day. We planned on this to be the blerg day and it was. Denver to Wisconsinr in one go. We did well enough, stopping at some roadside attractions along the way and ending up in Omaha around dinner time. Caitlin found the most amazing last minute place to eat: Modern Love ( http://www.modernloveomaha.com/ ) a vegan restaurant headed by a chef who started in NY, went to Portland had some books and a TV show along the way and ended up in Omaha. We were lucky to get to sit at a window bar for 2 which they keep open for walk ins. They were booked from about 5-8:30 so getting these seats really made the experience the highlight of the day. Homemade soda, amazing food and a desert later and we were back on the road.
We hit the largest truck stop in the world (aka indoor fast food and all the made in China knickknacks you could ever dream of) on the way through Iowa and powered our way home getting in at 2am Saturday morning.

So that's the story of how we got Neville to his new home. The next post's will mainly be about progress on the car and adventures to come.

Well I have had a couple of "build threads" but they never really took of because I would end up selling them. Now I am on my 15 and finally car. The one and only RT4WD Civic Wagon. After searching for a couple years I finally found one in mint condition and only 4 1/2 hours away.

Here she is

She is in mint condition with one quarter size bubble of rust and like a handful of dings. Also has 147k on original motor. With this being my last car for awhile I want to start a build thread...a slow one at that...but I will be doing work to it and have some plans for it :bigok:

Yes, my friends the price of gas has been killing me for sometime so I decide to purchase a daily beater. I came across a craiglist post for a 91 wagon for $500 obo. The reason why the asking price was $500 was because it had a blown motor. When I was checking out the wagon I noticed it had a couple of problem, first the blown motor, its auto, the ignition would not release the key, radiator did not have any fluid, and a large dent in the driverside fender. The upside to the wagon was it is a clean title, I did a carfax and it was only registered in California and Arizona (NO RUST), has over 15 dealership records of maintains, tags are good till March of 2011, and bone stock in everyway. I ended up paying $350
Its been about 3 weeks since I purchased the wagon and finally found a D16y8 for $200 which included a obd1 distributor, alt, and complete intake mani. My plans are to do a auto to 5 speed conversion and run a stock p28 ecu. I may decide in the future to go with a B series motor so this is why I am doing the obd0 to obd1 conversion. Since I am only looking to daily drive my wagon I decided to go with a DX trans for the long gear ratio. I also found a P28 and a complete obd0 to obd1 engine harness from the Honda Medic. The converted engine harness is super clean and I am very happy. The other small things like 5 speed cluster, shift linage, motor mounts, throttle cable, shift cable, 5 speed starter, 5 speed pedal cluster, either I purchased new or was found on craigslist.
I also spent sometime at my local pick a part and found a clean set of the rear hanger bars. Well, so far so good. I pulled out the blown motor and I was able to sell the auto trans for $150.

I started to install my motor today. The only hard time I had was the rear mount. Everything else was very straight forward. I will update as I go on. Here are some PICS of what I have so far.
