Is there a way to tell the year of a transmission?

as title says im supposed to be picking up a 89 manual trans. today but need to know hoe to identify it.

You posted while I was searching.. read the linked thread...I'm off to find another.
To determine the year of the tranny, Look at the pilot end of the input shaft, past the clutch splines. If there are no grooves, it's an '88. One groove? '89. If there are two grooves it's a '90-'91.
