It's been discussed before, and I don't think aftermarket quarters are available. I think that junkyard quarters may be your only route to fresh sheetmetal.
  • thats kinda what i was thinkin
i did some hunting but couldnt find any

    thanks for the help
  • The hatch/sedan/crx rear arches are still available here in Europe but some say that the flare on the wagon is larger or different than those. I went a whole different route fixing my rust but this is still an option I think.
  • would the quarters off of other ef bodies work with some modification?
    i never thought of that...

    ragenasian,
what did you do to fix your rust?
  • Check out my member's ride thread and you will see

im going to be using a spare front wing to repair my rear arches ;)

and yes, the arch flare is completely different to CRX and Civic 3/4dr
  • I think it is time for me to buy one to do a comparison. I still think if both sides are changed out then this is still a viable option for those who don't have access to stock wagon body parts.

IF folks are truly serious about getting new doglegs, I see unrusted ones all the time. It would be a PITA to ship them, and expensive, but it is possible.

Would the junkyards let you cut out sections of the quarter panel? Similar to the ones here... http://rustrepair.com/ Then it wouldn't cost as much.

Yeah, that's what I meant by "doglegs". I don't see why They wouldn't let you cut them. I've known people to buy roof skins and such. I don't currently own a cordless recip saw, but if there's a need I can get one.

i found a company called lake erie trading post that sells new quarter panel weld-ins, ect.
they have some for an 88-91 sedan, but i don't know if they will work.

here's the link to the quarter panel "skin:"

here's a link to the rear "arch:" (i'm not sure what-is-what)

(the website is slow to load)
  • So how far off are the sedan arches?
Is it that they fit ok but don't flare out enough to look stock ?
But if you were replacing both sides then you'd be changing the look of the ach, but that's not a great deal is it i it looks like it's supposed to be there ??

    I'm getting desperate :?
  • how bad is the rust on your arches.

If you're going to be cutting & welding anyway, you could just flat sheet metal and weld it in piece by piece.

As long as you're careful, you should be able to match the contours of the arch, and fix any issues with filler (not thicker than 1/8" preferably)

show us some pics, also, SEARCH is your friend, there are tonnes of people on here doing the same thing
  • Yeah I have searched a fair bit.
Some people are using front arches to fix the rear. I forget which side but one of the font fenders is now out of stock at Honda.

Fat chance of finding good condition ones here...

My arches are bad but livable. Only going to get worse. I suppose it's a good time to learn to spray properly. metal work isn't a problem, I can buy some new tools to do it like a pro as well. Matching the contour just needs more tools.

But sedan rear arches are $30 here. Front wings about $50.
If I can get them in then it'll alter the way it looks but by far the easiest way to patch up the rust.

I've seen people on here doing it with fibreglass. No thanks...

Perhaps the one to try is a plastic/rubber arch cover which matches the rest of the trm. I was gutted to see that the Beagle has a painted strip and not an arch cover. That wouldn't be a problem.

I wonder if I were to produce some arch covers if there would be any interest in them??
A nice mod to give the look of flared arches and a damn cheap and easy way of fixing rusty ones.
  • well...
    how about it Bam...

    you blacksmith you...

    ahaaaah !
    choking...

    ohwell...

I see about 5-10 wagons a month out here in NM, all rust free:) could cut em out and ship on peoples dime....

i'd be more interested in the fenders... although shipping to canada could be like riding bareback :(
  • I could well be interested.
Or alternatively, get one and make some replicas = profit $$$

    Here is what I'm comparing:

It looks too close to be true ?!?
Tho it looks like the shuttle arch is longer than the sedan. Anyone?

Of course I can just hide it like first thought:

  • I definitely need new quarter panels. In order to pass inspection my shop "suggested" I duct tape my rusted out wheel wells so that the rust wasn't visible.

As much as I want to weld in new metal, I don't know how to weld and can't afford to have someone do it for me. I was thinking of fiberglassing some flares instead.
  • it's not the "correct" way of doing it, but as a quick(er) fix, you could pull out the rust, and use some kind of mesh, or wire to reinforce the bondo...

Just make sure to pull out ALL the rusted metal, or it'll come back

Then smooth, and use a GOOD etch primer / sealer, and a couple coats of high build, sand, and paint.

Paint is important because it'll make a water tight seal over the repair.

This won't last as long as cutting out the rust (probably a year or so depending on how well it's done) and welding in new pieces of metal, but it'll get you past inspection and be quicker and cheaper....

Osoyoos/Oroville is pretty close. Why ship all the way to Kelowna?
  • i've been really REALLY wanting to do the VW fender flares, but use WAY more of them since they are large enough to come from the sideskirt area all the way up and back to the bumper...i figured it could work and would be cheaper than having someone cut out/reweld new metal in.
