Pottentially a new wagon owner

ok so im 16 almost 17 and i have my lisence and now im looking for a car and i want a wagon so effing bad its unreal!!! lol i live in sacramento and i found an 88 wagon for 900 dollars and it has 247555 miles on it what should i be looking for when a wagon has that many miles on it and it costs so little? Also what cheap engines could i buy to swap the old one out with just incase the old one is bad? I envy all of you guys that have those sick ass wagons they are so cool!! :)

    That mileage isn't really that high, mine had 291,500 when I got it. That's a decent price, and when you're looking at our wagons, body condition is most important. Check for damage and/or rust. There are MANY cheap engines available, and some not so cheap...either way they're plentiful.

    Almost all of us started with an old unloved beater and are slowly making it right...it's fun!

    sweet thanx thats what i want to hear lol im on a budget of 4000 dollars but i dont get the extra money i dont spend soooo :( there pretty rare in my area so i was really glad that i found this one!!! the problem is is that my parents are kinda stingy when it come to older cars so ill have to really convince them to let me get it cuz i REALLY want it!!!!! how much do lowering kits start at? becuase thats like the very first thing i would do to it if it didnt need a new engine or anything

    Hell, if you've got a budget like that, you should look beyond your area. Some real nice wagons could be had for under $3,000. You just might have to travel a bit.

    yeah theres a few in LA but thats kinda far and depending on if it runs or not it would probably be a bitch to get it back to sacramento lol i just hope that this one i might get dosnt have one ounce of rust and that it is in fairly good condition. im gona try to go and look at it this weekend hopefully

    Well i found that one that i posted for only 900 but i havnt been to look at it yet so i have no idea what condition its in but i would love to buy and start pimpin it out!! Lol how much do k20's start at with all the parts and shit not just the engine?

    k20 well probably run you all runing in ur car is about 5-7 g's and thats going cheap... if i was you... is to try to get a clean body or somewhat close it and just run b or d series motor... alot cheaper and dime a dozen... unless ur BALLIN...

    Ohhh shit 5-7 g's!!!!! Alright i would probably get a rebuilt engine or a new more powerful engine just for shits and giggles lol

    yea... as much as u spend on a k20 is a probably a full built vtec turbo swap lol... k24 is probably one of the cheaper k motors...

    Yeah im not looking to go fast really im lookin to make it look nice like lower it get some new tires and rims, new paint, and a bitchin stereo system!!!
