thanks, but i read that. he doesnt really explain what parts should be used.
  • What parts are you unsure about?

    He used:

    D16Y8 Head
    D16Y8 plugs and wires
    D16A6 IM/EM
    D16A6 Distributor
Summit racing RPM switch to activate Vtak

    I added

New headgasket (bought it with a blown headgasket)
ARP headstuds (Lightning motorsports sells a custom set for minime conversions)

    which head gasket?

im thinking i need a 2000 civic ex parts.
  • dang I forget. I think it's the later (Y8) gasket though. They were metal and not the graphite material used in earlier headgaskets.
  • i used:

9 z6 head bolts and 1 y8 head bolt (goes in the shorter of the head bolt holes)
    96 ex head gasket
96 ex dizzy with both side of the dizzy plug (just depinned my old dizzy plug and repinned the the new plug)
    p28 ecu
obd0-obd1 ecu jumper with vtec plugs(http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 4118596223) this one

    96 ex timing belt
    96 ex plug wires
98 hx plugs ngk g power (better for higher compression)

motor ran great and got excellent gas mileage. hope this helps you out sir.

    nice thanks.
  • Why can't you use the Y8 intake manifold (with the Y8 head)? Is the throttle cable not the right length? Are there any other throttle body cables that will work?

Also, there is no need to put an OBD2 distributor on your OBD2 head. The D16A6 distributor works fine. The only odd-ball distributor is the Z1/Z6.
