My bushings are shot : (

Both front and rear suspension bushings are done. Has anyone done a full blown bushing replacement on their wagon?
Do you recommend poly or rubber?
Ant suggestions on where to purchase?

Thanks
Dan

From memory you can use the entire bushing kit from an EF hatch on the Wagon and not have any bits left over.

If yours is an RT4WD you'd want to look at the diff isolator bushes as well.

    i've done complete bushing changeover.
you can use any EF bushing kit.
rear trailing arm bushings are the same from 88-00' i believe. stick with rubber bushings instead of poly, unless the place you live has roads like glass. don't forget to do your radius rod bushings.
  • im mid process installing poly bushings. ive only done the front LCAs but its not that hard. pressing the old bushings out is the hardest part. best done with a shop press. or you could burn them out. it may be possible to use a bench vice to press in the LCA bushings only. and i found that cutting the sleeve with a sawzall and then chisle it out works very well, but use care and try not to cut the control arm in doing so.

the difference of road feel is huge.

if you go poly, energysuspensionparts.com has everything you need.
  • I'm in the process of changing all the front bushings now...the rear will be done next summer...have too many projects going at once.

I'm using all oem bushings...I went down the poly bushings road before and I never want to go back that way again...what a mistake it was, oem all the way for me....

bought a shop 12 ton press from harbor freight to change my wheel bearings and while I'm at it I'm changing all my bushings....the press makes life easy.

great link below to change wheel bearings:

just changed all the motor mounts with the hardrace motor mounts....starting to regret that too...should've went oem...doh!
  • I had mine at a shop and they said the bushings look fine but when the time comes I'll be using oem too. How much did that press set you back?
  • I picked it up at my local harbor freight store so no delivery costs..

the 12 ton press was $130 and comes with free arbor plates

you will also need the bearing separator at $15

the online prices are a few bucks more than instore...don't know why

    press:

    bearing separator:

the initial cost will pay for itself the first time I use it...
  • very cool.
