You can get some stock Miata wheels pretty cheap, you'll have to use a 2 1/4 hole saw to bore out the middle

There custom and they were made in a factory so I would say it fits the criteria. He didn't say stock wheels or anything

I asked around in salem, I got laughed at twice, told to leave once, and told that they would do but its illegal and as soon as I drove it onto the street they would call the police. oh wagon war, what could you do with my rims? I got about $300 to waste 8)

Its not high up on my list of things to do. I really need a alarm. No where will sell me one. Well they will but they have to install it. If they do it the way I want it turns out being $600

2 1/4" hole saw... That doesn't throw off the wheel balance at all? See, I *have* a set of stock Miata wheels - on my Miata. Just thinking it could be interesting to make them fit the Hondas in our fleet as well.. Or maybe snatch up some cheap used Miata alloys for the wagon (though I do like the 1st gen CRX wheels I'm running now...)

I didn't have any issues with the balance on my wheels and it rides fine.

I'm talking out my ass but isn't all the weight carried on the wheel studs and not the center hole? It just needs to be made bigger to accept the larger diameter hub.

Well I dont know about the rest of you but when I go and get new tires they balance the rims. So it wouldnt matter if it threw it off cause you can just have it re balanced anyways. And now you know

Has anyone else gone this route? I'm wondering if Alupso is just that good and some average joe like myself could get it centered enough to avoid any issues. Found some oldschool MR2 wheels for a killer deal I want to put on. 8)

This can be a deep subject, but I'll keep it simple & hope no turns it into 1.

I don't think it'll be a prob for several reasons. From my research the Miata centre bore is 2 1/8" (54mm) .That's only a 1/8"(3mm).Once you put up the 2.25" hole drill that's only 1/16" on both sides.Just try to keep the drill straight or use a drill press ,go down sloooow & watch out for the kick  .Most any imperfection shouldn't affect the balance 'cuz it's in near the centre.
  • Even if the wheels are not hubcentric to the chassis, as long as you have a big enough center bore, and tighten the lugnuts really evenly and carefully, you'll have no trouble with balance.
