After doing some random interwebz searches, i found something kinda cool.
I am really not sure if they are still making this or not, but check it out!

it would be nice to get a class 2. I just got a class 1 that I will try to see if it will fit or not (plan to pull a honda scooter on it)
  • They (Curt Manufacturing) still makes a hitch, but it is a fixed draw bar, not removeable like shown there. It bolts to the tow hook and frame. I can get them, and I think they are around $150-$175. You will have to look at it all the time though, so you would probably only want to do it if you towed often. This is why I don't have one right now.

Forget how it looks and ask me how many times I've banged my shin on the hitches on my previous wagon and Miata (yes, I towed a small trailer with my Miata - how else are you supposed to get 4 racing wheels plus tools to the track? ). NOT a fun experience. Even on my current cars I'm paranoid of whacking my shin on a hitch that isn't there.

I had considered having one built to tie into the body closer to the rear suspension, to keep weight and stress off the very end of the body structure. I'd only use it for very small utility trailers and those hitch-mount bike racks you see all the time on SUVs.
