clutch safety switch

So i found out that in my 88 RT you dont have to push the clutch in to start the car. Funny thing is any 88-00 I have owned has a safety hooked to the clutch that would not allow the car to fire unless the clutch was dipressed. Before work this morning I looked up under the dash and there was no safety. hell there was no place to mount one. If this normal for our wagons or is there something fishy with mine? I didnt even see the wires that would have went to the switch that leads me to believe that there is none, but i figured I would ask.

i'm pretty positive 88 and some 89 came without.

I've bypassed the switch on newer ones so no need to press the clutch :)

Your 88 HF was prob a late version.. the '88 didn't come with it.. the '89 was the 1st yr for clutch switch according to mitchell.

This must be a USDM only thing. I've been able to turn her over in gear in all of my JDM Hondas.

yeah it is. on my del sol I had it also disengaged the cruise if you pushed in the clutch. Did any wagons come with cruise? Im wondering if they did how that worked with no safety switch.

My 89 has one and it just fizzeled out on me not two weeks ago. A paperclip fixed the issue though.

My current project wagon had aftermarket cruise, but I haven't seen any OE ones. Wagondriver retrofitted the real deal from a LX sedan on his wagon, though.
