Issues opening my, I mean, a friend's hood

Say a friend of mine leaves a socket wrench sitting over the wheel well of the engine bay and then closes the hood. After trying and trying, he can't seem to get the hood open even after having someone lean on the latch area while he tries the hood release. Do I, I mean, does he have to now remove the bumper to open the hood? Thanks!

take the bumper off, loosen the hood latch bolts and that should help you.

Try putting some weight in the middle of the hood. Your "friend's" wrench has bowed the hood upwards, maybe putting some weight more towards the middle might work. You could also try pulling up on the edge of the hood while the other person pulls on the latch.

Don't worry my "FRIEND" has done this many times.

You might be stuck pulling the bumper off though.

Thanks guys! I tried putting pressure on the middle of the hood as well as on the H emblem while having my wife pull the hood release. Didn't work. Ended up pulling of the bumper to get at the latch. Turns out the socket wrench screwed up the adjustment of the latch and the hood. Had to readjust the tension on the spring so the hood would open and close smoothly.
