passenger mirror, broken glass

the new wagon has a passenger side mirror. The glass is cracked. Is it possible to get a new piece cut and install it? I can still see with it pretty well, but unbroken would be nice!

I wonder if you could just get the glass for a driver's side mirror and install it on the passenger mirror upside down? It should literally be a mirror image.
  • Wouldn't you have to flip it? I don't think the back is mirrored.

Won't work. I guess I don't know how to search  I can't seem to find it, but look for thread 'EE mirrors 101' by me.
Other 4th gen glass will fit, but there are 2 different styles.

If it is symmetrical you should be installing it upside down/flipped... same difference. :P

    Take driver mirror.

    Rotate 180 degrees.

    Install on passenger side.

Have a beer to celebrate.

It also won't be one of those wussy "objects in mirror are closer than they appear" mirrors. I don't want that kind of distortion. Ever since I drove a box truck and learned to back up using only my side mirrors, I want side mirrors that don't make things look farther away. Otherwise I'll be backing up till it sounds expensive.

    What's your budget?
  • I had an accord once and the mirror glass broke. I went to the dealer and bought a new one. Not the whole mirror just the glass with the backing behind it. It was a power mirror and took me about an hour to figure it out but was pretty cheap in the end. I would probably check with a dealer to see if the civic part is available the same way.

I ordered my replacement glass from my work. It was under $20.
