Which Type of Strut Tie Bars to Use?

Been doing research on Tie Bars with hopes that some of them can fix some squeaks and groans but more importantly, tighten up my handling. There are tons of choices...

Strut Bar: Do I need one that ties to the firewall? Those seem to be the sturdiest, but I also don't want to rip or tear anything. Has anyone had both?

Lower Front Subframe Bar: anyone have one of these and do you notice a difference?

C Pillar Bar: Would love one but it seems to defeat the purpose of having a wagon unless I can find one that has a quick release. Is it even worth it, quick rease or not?

Rear Subframe Bar: The bar that ties the control arms together underneath...does this make a difference? Is it needed?

I see some combo kits on ebay for as low as 85 bucks that has everything included (none of those tie to the fire wall though). What do you all think? Discuss! :)

    avoid those cheap ebay ones, they dont really do anything at all and are flimsy as crap.

    Megan racing makes nice strut cars, for pretty reasonable..$70 for the fronts and rears (each). i know those that have better brand named bars see a quicker response in steering, me with my $2 bar though.. i have seen anything really lol :lol:

    good thread though, i'd like to see some answers about these parts as well, as i have been looking into getting lower tie bars and such as well..

    I have both front and rear upper tie bars and they are both cheapo ebay ones and they help out a lot..

    Do you find that the steering is more true and the car feels more sturdy? It seems like the one that would tie into the bolt hole on the frame would be ideal as it is triangulated but. those are about 2 sometimes 3 times the cost of one that goes from strut tower to strut tower..?
  • yeah the steering was a lot tighter and it felt like it had less body roll..

    you should find somthing that is solid, those adjustible ones are crap they just twist and turn ect... neuspeed makes a classic one piece all welded, and nrg makes a password jdm knock off thats cheaper. password and nrg are 3 point bars they are great no problems (ripping stuff) front lowers are good if you can find one. for the rear there arn't any one piece bars that i know of but you can find non adjustable ones that are good. piller bars are kinda flimsy as well dont know about the benifits, but again nrg makes a harness bar that fits the rear seatbelt holes and has 2 legs that come down to tie into the chassis for some actual bracing. as for the rear sub frame they dont fit as they are for other civic's without a sub frame. besides the rear subframe makes the wagon stonger than other civics with a tie bar installed. all and all these are just my opinion, it just makes more sence this way 8)
