Rear window washer on 89 Wagon

The rear window washer on my 89 Wagon hasn't worked for a few years and I was thinking about trying to fix it since I recently put a new wiper blade back there that actually works. Does the rear washer line use the same pump and fluid reservoir as the front wipers? I assume it does because I've never seen another one. If so, why would my front washers be OK, while the rear ones are dead? Any suggestions or help out there?

There are 2 pumps. Remove the front bumper for access. Note that the rear washer nozzle doesn't spray, just kinda pisses a stream down the glass.
  • Remove front bumper to access pump for rear washer? You're saying they hid the pump behind the front bumper?

You got that right. I've lived without washer fluid being pissed down my back window for a few years now. I guess I can tough it out a little longer.
  • Most cars have a hatch where we have the access for our tailights, suprised honda didn't dos something like that :!:

The front bumper has to be removed for access to almost anything up front. Luckily, it only takes about 2 minutes to get it off.

    change headlights?... bumper.
    ac condenser?...bumper.
    horns?...bumper.
    rear window pisser?...you guessed it!

have someone activate the rear washer while you listen under hood to here the pump motor. if you hear it, then like SiWagon said, i means your line is clogged somewhere.
  • My pump works, tried to push some air through it. Apparently there was a clog, but now a line came loose in the interior :( I can now put water into the inside of my car, can't fix it unless i drop my headliner out. DAMN :!: :!: :!:
  • ok, the people who havent laughed (yet)

In my previous wagon, a 91 FWD, the rear washer never worked. Never bothered fixing it. Then I sold the car to a friend. I was completely honest about what did and didn't work, including that the rear washer didn't work. Just after buying the car, the rear washer started working again, all by itself.

Front bumper removal is easy easy easy.
