Pix & incar autox footage from the awd gsr wagon.

Finally got the car dialed in a little. Well enough to autox it. I still need to sort the suspension, more like steel it off of another car, but other than that Im happy with the results so far. Owned SM class this weekend by over a second on its first day out, so Im a happy camper as of now. Heres some incar, Ill have the one where I spinout soon, the cameras battery died downloading it.

One pic so far as well. I know the wheels suck, but the stickiest rubber is on these wheels right now. 15x7.5 wheels dont fall in my lap for free everyday.

That was an awesome run. I wish I felt more competent with my drive, I would really like to get into AutoX. Any good links I can check out for more info? I been putting some time in on Gran Turismo 5 but I just don't feel ready to take it to a real track.

    evol911, try www.scca.org

Its got everything you need to know. Start with the red "find your region" at the top right and go from there. Most regions have thier own website that you can go look at results from previous races and see whose in your class and what they drive. Most sites will give pricing, schedules, etc.

Theres nothing wrong with showing up at an autox not knowing how to drive. Thats how some of the best racers in the world started. You have to start somewhere sometime. Quit making excuses and start showing up. I guarentee youll have fun. I havent missed but 10 races in the last ten years. I was hooked instantly.

Eagle, I no understands the wheel comment. Maybie I is dunce, but no problems on the ride along. Ill try and have the other runs up soon. I lost it on one of my runs and slid out violently. Was pretty entertaining.

Thanks for the link! Not too much happening in Oregon as far as I can tell from the SCCA schedule.

Gotta click on the blue Oregon region (96). This is what they have left this year. I have a good friend in an dark gray Evo going there to defend his championship from last year at Packwood.

Event #6 Saturday, September 6th - PIR South Paddock (stock PM)
Event #7 Sunday, September 7th - PIR South Paddock (stock PM)
Event #8 Saturday, October 4th - Packwood, WA (stock PM)
Event #9 Sunday, October 5th - Packwood, WA (stock PM)

I definatly expected to see more events in Oregon, but you guys have access to a track, so Im sure people bypass autox's for lapping days often. I know I would if I could.

Eagle, ok, ya I get it now. Im a dumbass sometimes, lol.

Thanks for the comps guys. The car is a blast. Ill post up more stuff as I get it downloaded.

Oh yeah I see it now. Hey shenrie, I actually have some family out in Boise so I'm thinking next time I get out that way, I'll have to get ahold of you. I think it would help if I had someone who has had some first hand expierence to guide me in a sense.

It's also worth looking into autocross in general with clubs other than SCCA. Not to slam them. Where I live, though, the closest SCCA events are 2.5 hours away, yet the Cumberland Motor Club has a series of events mostly within an hour of where I live. I personally prefer the friendlier atmosphere of the smaller club, though there are certainly some great people in SCCA as well. (Some people run both events when there aren't conflicts). There are also brand name clubs, too - BMW CCA, for example. They don't require BMW ownership, and at least in the Boston area had a great autox series that allowed non-BMWs.

evol911, anytime your this way just hit me up. If theres a race we are there and I can show you the jist of an event. Id be my pleasure.

NJ, Hx, & Haydz, thanks guys!

White&Nerdy, I agree. Some of the smaller clubs are a lot more lax, but these events listed could get him the info for other events in the area. I dunno if theres a NASA club there or not. We dont have any NASA chapeters in Idaho except the rally that goes through once a year.

Wow nice run there. Got some nice pics too. Is that a crack in your windshield? The event i did last year almost wouldnt let me do it because of a small crack.

As far for looking for an auto x event i found that the scca events cost more and only go to out local track. I dont want to be doing say 80 down the front strait and end up wrecking with only a seat belt. I like to do the smaller events also just cause its more of my buddies there and not so serious.

    CONE KILLER!!!!
  • shenrieshenrie Council Member
OGWGN1, ya thats a crack. Every car I have has a spent windshield. Its not an issue at the autox's, but the drags is another story.

Im with ya on the smaller venues. While Pro Solos are fun, they can be stressfull too. I really like our local events. We average 45-65 competitors a race. So its just enough to pay for the site, portapotties etc...

evol911, Ive been known to murder a cone or two. That one was during my spinout, only one I hit that day, but I hit it goooooood ;)
  • OGWAGN1OGWAGN1 Wagonist
The drag stirp didnt even notice the crack lol.

Sorry, answered this originally before the site blew away my long reply. Ya Im race it in SM. I won this day by a second and a half. All the fast SM cars are down right now. 400hp twin turbo E30 M widebody, fully prepped Evo that puts 500 on the ground etc.. Dunno how Id fare against these guys, but we will find out. This day I was 2 tenths behind a stock Evo MR with upgraded tires only.
