Sound System Insurance

My insurance company doesn't offer any stereo equipment or rider insurance, and my dad is paying of it. He said if I could get a quote that was the same or better where I could pay for the extra insurance, he would switch. Of course I couldn't. My question, are there separate companies that would insure just my sound system?

  • I don't think too many insurance companies cover the EXTRAS we put on our cars. Mine covered my stereo when it was stolen but only because of the amount of money it was worth when stolen.
  • when i asked my Ins.Man he said because of the age of our wagons, if we've gone to the trouble to restore the bodies, improve the motors and put all sorts of goodies in them thus surpassing any recent "Blue Book" values, the only real way to be sure to have everything covered was to come in an make a Written Declared Value on the car and then the policy would be written based on that declaration.

The other way is to have receipts and pics.If you had installed it you may get more under the ''Declared Valuation '' since the receipt won't include ur labour.
  • 99% of insurance companies will not cover anything beyond the factory radio or wheels.

The way around that is to have those items endorsed on to your homeowner's or renter's policy.
