My rear bumper falling off

Looks like I've been a victim of a hit and run on my parking spot. Yesterday when I went to clean up my waggy I notice that I have some scratches on my rear bumper as well with a gap of 2 to 4 cm on the driver side. As I drove the car last night when on a wedding the gap become 2" height gap.
I started suspecting the car that used to park beside me which is for some reason I haven't seen lately park beside me and the space have been empty for weeks. I don't drive my car that much I ride my bike to work and the only time my car is being used is for groceries and picking up my kid at the daycare if it's raining.
I tried fixing it today but since my waggy have seen better days the rear bumper brackets are all rusted and not fixable anymore. I went to grab some hose clamps and drill another hole at the body of the car so I will have some support from the 2 screws connected at the side of the car.
Can you by just the brackets? I'm not sure whats the possible solution since even the metal inside the rear bumper are all rusted and looks like I can't even bolt it on.
Does some of you have any diagrams for the rear bumpers so I know exactly what to look for or any recommendations?
I will post some pics later.
Thanks

you are prolly better off just getting another bumper support.
take off your rear bumper to see the damages underneath. it could be anything, like the mounting ports rusted though... etc.
The driver side which is the damage one, all the bolts that's connected to the bumper are eaten by rust and the brackets are so damage that it easly bendable because of rust. But what I don't understand is there's this type of bracket that's connected to the body which has some bolts from the compartent and I do think it's the bracket thats holding down the bumper, I can only reach the top one on the compartment which I drilled a hold beside it to meet the other end of the hose clamp.
Are the rear bumpers in one piece that you have to bolt them in the car or does it comes with another brackets when you buy them new.
Because even the inside of the rear bumpers are rusted and dont know how can it be screwed down.
the other two are outside under the car (almost directly underneath where the interior ones are). also there are plastic plates covering the exterior bolts. you have to pop those off the access the bolts.
then unscrew the screws along the fender well in the rear, and the bumper will slide off. its one piece.
the bumper cover (the rubber part) is screwed to the bumper frame. to remove the cover you have to just unscrew it. my screws were pretty rusted that i had to drill them off. then i just bought new nuts and bolts from a hardware store to remount it.
I took one of the bolts inside and looks like that bolt is holding a bracket am I right? If it is that snap because of rust?
Does this mean I need a new bumper?
If not, basically there is nothing for the bumper to hold, on that side. It basically fall off due to rust and probably the hit.
What parts do I need?
Is it possible just to tell my mechanic to find a way to weld the bumper to the body?
your best bet is to get a new bumper support... they are quite cheap from junkyards.
perhaps you could make a mounting bracket and weld it to the bumper frame and work with it that way...
but you cant weld the bumper to the car. thats a no-go.
Thanks for all your knowledge. I'm pretty sure my brackets are gone way gone.
but maybe hatchback or sedan will work...? dunno :?
dont mind the spray paint :P
I have this impression and thought that there should be like a metal bracket in there (not the bracket support).
not pretty. it would look pretty slick with a custom roll pan, but damn what a lot of fab work!
Please be patient with me I'm trying to get this right. Those 3 holes on the lower side that's were the bracket goes right?
Is the bracket connected to the bumper in one piece?
The scenario on mine is if the bracket is connected/welded to the bumper in one piece, then mine break in half (the part thats connected to the body).
I don't really want to spend a lot of dough, what do you think my best possible solutions I can do?
How much would it cost me if I order a new bumper from the dealership? I don't even think it's worth it if my body is rusted from where the bolts are and it will be more money thrown away.
Give me your advice just in case my mechanic can't think of anything.
Thanks
-rubber bumper cover
-metal frame that goes the whole length from left to right
-and styrofoam "stuffing" for low-speed impact absorption.
thats its.
the rubber cover is held to the metal frame by screws along the top and bottom.
the styrofoam is just jammed in between the gaps of the metal and rubber
the metal frame is bolted to the car by 4 12mm bolts. two on each side.
quite simple
More than likely your bumper support is rusted to the point of deformation as well as someone hitting it
You can get a new support or maybe bambam or someone can hook you up with a non-rusted one.
It's very simple to do, but preferably with a 2nd pair of hands.
Take the entire assembly off before removing the skin by loosening the nuts of the bolts you see in the interior trunkspace and underneath. i think i counted 6 altogether?
These guys posted some excellent pix for you.
Majestic or somewhere else should have an "exploded" diagram for you too. ooohhh....here ya go........

here's a pic of mine removed before i bent it back into shape, painted it with 3-5 coats of Rustoleum, and then remounted it.
Can I use any Honda 88-91 Bumper Beam? Or only waggys?
I must say you guys are awesome!!!! I appreciate all the help. I've been to a lot of forums but this forum rules when it comes to knowledge about waggy.
i dunno if hatch or sedan supports work. for the safe side i'd say it doesnt work, seeing as the sedan and hatchback have a lower cutout in the bumper for the license plates i would assume the shape is a little different.
yeah i was looking at them they are diff the bolt up is to so wagon on wagon only like always
Basically I have to lift the bumper more so it's not obvious that it's falling off.
Here are the pics of the inside and the finish ghetto work that I have to do.
The zip tie and hose nut clamp that I hook up from the beam and the body of the car (interior)
Finish work
phew ...
: )
Does a 1987 wagon parts will be compatible with a 91.
I found this on craigslist thinking of just salvaging the car if it's compatible with some stuff for my wagon.
