Clearcoat separation

I'm finally ready to take the electric Wagon to work, so I went out to wash it. The accumulated dust and debris of years in the garage have been adding up. Also, I wanted to test for leaks. And measure my energy usage.
The good news: No leaks. Well, maybe some water got in the taillight lenses; it's hard to tell. And energy usage is lower than expected, only a little more than 300Wh/mile (I was expecting 400 with a car this size and shape).
The bad news: The clearcoat on the lower driver corner of the tailgate has separated from the paint, leaving a nice pocket where water accumulates. I've already got some very minor surface rust there.
I pricked the bottom with a screwdriver and tried to get all the water out, but I just can't get it all.
I fear I'm going to need to paint the entire car just to fix it.
No questions, just venting. Arrgh!

I'm going to give your EV website address to a young man in Montréal who wants to buy a Lada wagon (like the one I'm getting) with the intention of making an EV out of it.
Cheers !!
She had a great idea! Just paint the whole bottom strip.
"What color?" I asked, thinking "I can never get the paint to match. It'll still be ugly, just a little less noticeable."
"Black."
I love it! In fact, I think I'm going to paint that strip black and apply yellow reflective decals so it looks like a caution tape. I may even put high-voltage triangles in there.
When I get my camera working again, I'll post a picture of the damage and Gimp up a picture of my^H^H her solution.
