Signal light switch & A/C issues

I have 89 wagon came with A/C.
I have 2 questions:
1. my signal switch doesn't seem to work well, it doesn't blink sometime.
2. my a/c is still blowing air but no freon, does it need to convert to a new standard or can it be charge ? i need to have answer before taking it my mechanic... thanks in advance.

2. R12 is way too expensive in my opinion, they made it more expensive so that people would switch to R134A, which is less harmful for the environment, you can get the retrofit kit from Honda for under $100 bucks, and switch to R134A. But your AC issue will be hard to diagnose over the computer. You could have a bad or leaking condensor, which sits infotn of the radiator, so if you were to add refrigereant to the system, it may just leak back out, so you need to know if you have a leak first, they have die that can be injected into the system to locate the leak, could have a bad or seized ac compressor, when you turn on your AC see if the clutch on the side of the compressor even starts spinning or does it just remain and a stop? (the belt will always spin around it, but when you hit the AC button the triangular looking exterior clutch should begin spinning with the belt from a stand still) Hopefully your system is just undercharged and doesnt have a leak, I would recomend taking it to a local shop and have them vacuum test it, see if it holds pressures to test for leaks, if its good to go see if you can switch to R134A, but if you can get R12 than more power to you because it will also run slightly colder vent temps but not by much, good luck!
