custom speakerpods 6th gen hatch
thought I'de share this here to.
in between my own wagon install I'm making some custom speakerpods for my buddy's 6th gen hatch.
he want's to put 2 6"1/2 hertz speakers in each door, as that is not possible with the stock doorpanels we decided to make some of our own.
first we started with a stock panel, drew out where we wanted the speakers and cut some of the plastic away so we could start making a mold with fiberglass
once the mold was made and was dry we made some speaker rings out of some wood and set them where we wanted the speakers to go. we glued the rings in place and then we took some strechcloth and put it over our piece.
then we mixed some of our epoxy resis and covered the cloth with it and let it cure till it was hard. after that we put 2 layers of fiberglass over it.
after al that is cured we can start sanding and filling our pieces and then spray them or cover them in leather or suede.
unfortunatly I don't have pictures of all the steps but when I continue on my wagons install I'll take pics of every step to better illustrate.
here are some pics when the strechcloth is covered in epoxy resin and it totally cured.

I just went to put some fiberglass over the first one, once that is cured there will be more pics.
