underseat storage tray...wtf

wagodizzlewagodizzle Council Member and EDM expert
so i got one these amazing and notorious little storage tray box thingies that go under the seat, except now i have no fricking idea how to get it installed, and quite frankly not even sure where they even go i try fitting it under there and the wire for the seat rail adjustment is 100% in the way. can anyone post up a pic of how its supposed to be?

btw, i have a 1991 Wagon..sooo that might make things difficult.

That goes for me too... I have a '90 2WD and I also have an underseat storage tray on the way so I'd also like to see a pic of the tray and how it fits under the seat.

Here's how it works in my car.

The bin slides completely underneath the seat, and slides out completely if you want it to. But here's the part you're probably missing:

There's a bracket attached to the underside of the seat, separate from the tray itself. My guess is you guys with newer wagons don't have this bracket, which is why the tray won't attach. It looks to be held on with 4 Phillips head screws, so it may be possible to snag a bracket and attach it to the underside of your passenger seat - or driver's seat, for that matter (convenient place to stash the radar detector when you get pulled over... )

Thank you for these informative pics.

I know that I am getting the tray and the bracket so installation should go well.

Interesting that you mention installing it under the driver's seat. Sounds like a plan!!

i have the bracket, except i have THIS in the way:

    234.jpg

that wire that goes across for the seat rail adjustment.
  • Man he beat me to it. I just went out and took pics myself for you guys. Oh well.

I just put my wife's tray back in her car. I had mounted a DVD player in that spot

hey rage, post your pics too.

it seems the 90-91 seats have an extra bulge on the bottom of them...
  • Okay I am uploading them now. My cable for the adjustment is mounted further back. Pics coming in a sec.
  • White&NerdyWhite&Nerdy Senior Wagonist
Yep, looks like a design difference between 88-89 and 90-91 seats with that cable in the way. I'd offer to swap seats with you guys, except you're kind of far away for that - plus I'm holding out for a pair of Si front seats anyway.

I've learned that once I swap seats, I should sell someone my tray - AND bracket. :)

i guess imma need to somehow move the cable... mechhh oh well.

i have the tray from my RT parts car, i installed it under the seat of my FWD car. there are no bolt holes for the mounting bracket so i just screwed it to the bottom with some self tapping screws. done.
  • wagodizzlewagodizzle Council Member and EDM expert
that Odysset tray looks identical to the RT tray, with the exception of the mounting positions

hey quarters, what year is your car?
  • wagodizzlewagodizzle Council Member and EDM expert
ok i got the tray installed... i ended up having to take out my stock seat adj. wire and then route a new one up and over the box. works fine though ;)
  • Can take some underside seat pictures of one in a 4wd if you want ?
  • quartersquarters Council Member
mine is a 90', the parts car was 88 or 89, don't remember.

i managed to install it, but pics wouldnt hurt.

you dont have the auto belts though, so your seat set-up is different. im curious though.

Price for the Odysessy tray is about $26(usdm).
  • I guess that 26 dollar price will pretty much ruin it for anybody who thought they had a rare part.
