Will CR-V tranny/shaft/diff fit in 88-91 RT's?

So I see the most recent for sale post here on the CW forum, a 1991 RT in Vancouver. In the ad it states he has a CR-V tranny, and just had to modify one bracket.
I just did work on my '91 RT rear diff carriage, and used a few CRV parts.

So im thinking......
Is it practical to put the whole works: Tranny, Driveshaft and Rear Diff from CRV? (gen1?).
And would VTEC and Dseries engines mount easily to CRV tranny? Or which engine would be easiest?
I know anything is possible (look at Bam Bam),
But is this a feasible long term option.

I just went through the ringer with my shaft and diff carriage, and would like to find a way to keep more these on the road.

I have access to several parts cars, CRVs and RTs. Tranny and Diffs, CRV shafts, but no RT shafts. Parts to experiment with if necessary.
I know cars, but will have my vintage Honda guy do any work, or pass info along to him.
