Hey what's up? Thinking of getting an a/c setup for my non-oem (or stock) RT4WD. Just curious if anyone has done this and how hard it was. Anyone have a link to a "how-to?" Thanks in advance gents!!
My brother in law stuck the A/C system from a CRX in mine but it had a bunch of issues. Took it out. It can be done though, like Bam-Bam there said. Mine had issues because it was junkyard sourced and older than dirt.

its really easy, i did the same thing my RT came with a ghetto rigged ac unit from another make car , so i went to the junkyard and found a complete system take out the unit in the dash and dissconect the wiring harness from there and then start in the engine bay from the firewall onto the compressor it took me only about a hour to dissasemble it all and about the same to reinstall in my car . do your self a favor and get refridgerator o ring kit. and replace all the orings in the system at every connection point cost like 5-10 $ for a box of them . as long as you ggot it out of any of the same generation you should be good. no modifications needed!~ GOODLUCK there might be a write up in my build thread if you take a look at it im not sure if i posted it, but its straight forward.
might want to retro fit it to new plugs before taking it into get recharged cuz shops over charge for it and all you do is screw a plstic knob on the upper and lower lines
id rate it on a scale of 1/10 how hard it is for unexpeieranced mechanics probably a 5 / 10

Also, there were two different compressors used. The Sanden is much preferred over the Matsushita one, and the compressor bracket and lines must match the compressor.
So far I've been able to find anything I need in junkyards. The only part I've ever bought new was a receiver/dryer. Granted, it may be easier for a less resourceful guy buy a compressor, instead of cobbling one together from used parts...
