Noise under acceleration

I went and looked at a couple of wagons today. A 1985 DX caught my eye. Was a clean little rig. Ran a little rich but seemed alright.
However, when I took it on a test drive, I heard a clunking. My first thought was a bad front passenger side wheel bearing, but the noise increases in speed with RPMs and goes away when you depress the clutch pedal.

I am thinking throw out bearing or something in the transfer case. What are all your thoughts. Should I pull the trigger and try to get it for a deal? Are 3rd gens hard to find parts for and I'm just going to be kicking myself later?

I tried to do a search, but only could find one other post with a similar issue and no resolve.

I had a clunk one time. Front CV axle was making noise. This was due to a broken motor mount allowing the engine/trans to move too much on acceleration.
