CRX seats?

has anyone put 88-91 crx seats in a wagon?

my wagon's stock seats are kinda rough and the crx seats would be perfect, nice and sporty!

they look like they may sit a bit lower though.

i went to put CRX seats into my wagon and u will need to use your wagon seat brackets. the CRX bolt battern is a lil smaller both long ways and side ways so your gunna have to modify the brackets a lil. i still havent done mine ive just kinda looked at it to see what ill have to do.

nope its pretty much unbolt and bolt back on. No cutting. Im not 100% sure about the Auto seatbelts. But It should be the same as 88-89 models

i couldnt get them to straight up just bolt in hhhmmm i wonder what im doing different...

mine weren't straight bolt-in either. i had to modify the rails to make the delsol's fit. more like mated the two rails together.

    lol
  • so did anyone figure out if the wagon rails simply unbolt and bolt to the crx seats or is a full pan swap required?
  • ThatDoodleThatDoodle Council Member
You dont have to swap the pan. just unbolt the rails from the wagon seats and put them on the Crx seats. Swap the hinges for the back too

It might depend on the year/model. I had to use modified wagon brackets for 91 CRX si seats.

Thanks for the info. I'm practically stealing a driver's side Si seat a guy in the local autox club has had kicking around his garage a while. Cheap because it has no seat rails. No problem for me - I couldn't use his anyway. :)

Fortunately I already have seat covers anyway, since my current driver's seat spews foam out the hole in the seatback otherwise. I'll just put the tan/black cover on the black Si seat to match the stock passenger seat with its own cover until maybe someday I put an Si seat on the other side. Not a priority, though - I drive the car, and I've got the nice seat. Passengers can suffer.

curt, those seats are in amazing condition

I currently have two CRX seats EXACTLY in that condition. I Picked them up bc the bolsters were immaculent and better than my crx's. The best part is that I bought them from Rexman for 50.00!!! when I bought the Wagon... I love him for all his service. Bringing the wagon into my life was a great thing. I've been driving it instead of the wifes car or my CRX bc, well, it has Honda Wagon Power? TOday I finally got around to detailing the interior and trying to beat the fender back out.

    Bit of a bump here

I have some of the Si seats i picked up today and pulled my wagon seat out and tried swapping the rails over and the outer wagon rail fite pretty goot, just need to make the bolt whole a little bigger but the inner (closest to tunnel) brackets on the Si seat have completly different mounting positions to the wagons pan. and the si rails are too short to fit on the wagon brackets.

    any tips/ suggestions?

My resolve was to swap out pans. I just removed the rails, cut the hooks, took off the seat back, swapped pans and stitched it up, bolted it in and it was done.
  • I picked up some '88 CRX Si seats last weekend that I just finished putting in my wagon. They fit pretty good and the only modification I had to do was to widen or lengthen the wagon rails to fit on the Si seats. I didn't have to swap the pans or anything. I did have to use about 6 washers under each rail bolt to raise it up a little because the sider, seat adjustment thing was hitting the bottom of the pan.

    awesome thanks guys
  • i too swaped pans mainly for the seat belts, not hard at all and its factory fit for the most part. couldnt tell you about 88-89 though. until i have a way for harnesses the belts must stay factory! nothing was a bolt on rail for me 90 wagon with 90 crx seats i can say that much  but i love my seats now!

haha, now how about the back seats? My front seats are ok. Kinda worn, but comfortable. My back seats are so thrashed I leave them folded down because it looks awful!

I don't understand this... bolt for bolt?

Keep in mind not all wagon seats (rails) are the same

This is true, I tried to put the same blue seats from a 91 wagon with the auto shoulder harness in my 88 not changing a thing but to take the extra shoulder strap off and the rails would not bolt to the floor rite. From front to back on the floor the 91 rails were longer. So I took the rails from the 88 seats and they would not bolt up to the 91 seats. I had to drill some holes in the rails. And that was civic wagon to civic wagon...... Just to get the same seat back in!

    No.

88/89 wagon rails do NOT line up in 90/91. Or visa versa.

The 90/91 wagon rails are longer.

    From my car:
    www.civicwagon.com

I can't speak on behalf of CRX rails, or seat pan swaps, or any of that other stuff people are doing....

BUT, 88/89 and 90/91 wagon rails are NOT the same!
