Engine Crimpling Issue

I was hoping you guys could help me out with a new issue that keeps accuring to my 88 RT4WD. I should let you know that I have a small head gasket leak that will be fixed soon, but am not sure if this is causing my problem (compression is fine). When I am driving the engine feels like it loses a cylinder crimpling the engine for a few seconds but still running, then it will surge back up and run normal. It only happens when a load is on the engine not idle, and is not affected by clutch play. Could be electrical but feels mechanical, I have a new ignition coil. Fuel pressure is good, dont know about injectors? Plugs, wires, dist. cap and rotor are good... Also have a irregular idle. If any one has any ideas or similar problem before I would appreciate it discussed. Thanks

I had a similar issue where the car would kinda lag, turned out to be the dizzy.
  • definatly sounds like a head gasket. when you step on the gas, it probly pushing water into a cylinder and not leting the gas combust properly. after a few seconds, the water is gone, and the car suns like normal. i have gone through about 6-7 hed gaskets, and that is what happens to almost all of them. change it and you should be all set.
